High school roundup for Oct. 6, 2018: Seneca Valley boys top Fox Chapel in double OT

Ben Francis scored with 12 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lead Seneca Valley to a 1-0 victory over Fox Chapel (10-6, 7-5) in a Section 1-4A boys soccer game Saturday.
The Raiders improved to 12-1-1 overall and 10-1-1 in section play.
Moon 2, North Catholic 0 — Justin Kopay and Ian Cueto scored to lead Moon (12-2-1) to a nonsection win over North Catholic (10-2). Darek Panucci earned the assist on both goals.
Greensburg Central Catholic 3, Serra Catholic 1 — After trailing 1-0, Greensburg Central Catholic (9-1, 8-0) scored three unanswered goals in a win over Serra Catholic (5-4, 3-4) in Section 2-A action. The Centurions were led by Sean Gargan’s goal and two assists.
Gargan found the back of the net off an assist from Caleb Umbel to tie the game. Ethan “Ron” Boyle headed in the second goal, while Luke Mort scored the third goal for the Centurions. Joe Salemi scored the only goal for Serra Catholic.
Thomas Jefferson 3, Belle Vernon 2 — A.J. Meshanko scored two goals and Jack Sella added one as Thomas Jefferson (9-4-1) defeated Belle Vernon (8-4-1) in nonsection play. Aaron Brown and Daniel Sassak scored for Belle Vernon.
Chartiers-Houston 6, Washington 2 — In nonsection play, Austin Arnold scored three goals to lead Chartiers-Houston (4-9) to victory at Washington (0-11). Dom Hancq added a goal and three assists.
Charleroi 8, Elizabeth Forward 0 — Nick Lasky, Cullin Woytovich and Jace Kepich scored two goals and one assist each as Charleroi (13-0) bead Elizabeth Forward (7-7) in nonsection play. Leo Iacovangelo added a goal and two assists.
Kiski Area 1, Latrobe 1 — The Cavaliers’ Aaron Witt scored on a Tyler Ciuca assist in the first half, Latrobe tied the game 20 minutes into the second half and then the game was called due to lighting with 9:42 remaining as Kiski Area (7-6-1, 6-5) and nonconference rival Latrobe (7-6-1, 7-5) decided to call it a tie due to weather.

Mt. Lebanon 3, Peters Township 1 — Lauren Stewart, Michelle Malizio and Riley Sweet scored goals to lead Mt. Lebanon (7-4-3, 6-3-2) to a Section 2-4A win over Peters Township (10-3, 8-3). Natalie Daube scored off an assist from Hannah Stuck for Peters Township.
West Allegheny 2, South Fayette 1, OT — Morgan Shansky scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead West Allegheny (9-4, 8-2) to a win over South Fayette (8-3-1, 5-3-1) in Section 4-3A play.
Yough 4, South Allegheny 0 — Justine Appolonia scored two goals to lead Yough (8-5, 6-5) to a Section 3-2A win over South Allegheny (5-7, 4-7). Natalie Vilchek and Amber Biros scored goals for Yough. Yough has shut out opponents five times this season. Yough defeated South Allegheny, 6-2, earlier in the season.
Latrobe 2, Allderdice 1 — Maddie Delucio scored on a penalty kick in the first overtime period to give Latrobe (3-9, 2-6) the Section 4-4A win against Allderdice (1-11, 1-9).
Bentworth 7, Monessen 0 — Paige Marshalek scored three goals and Jocelyn Timlin added two as Bentworth (11-1, 9-0) shut out Monessen (2-8, 2-7) in Section 2-A. Marshalek became the second all-time leading goal scorer in Bentworth’s history with 71 career goals. Bentworh has outscored its opponents over its past four games, 46-4.
Plum 3, Thomas Jefferson 1 — Gina Proviano scored all three Plum goals in its Section 3-3A win against Thomas Jefferson (5-9, 5-5). Plum improved to 10-3, 7-2.
Greensburg Salem 5, Albert Gallatin 0 — Five different players scored as Greensburg Salem (6-7-1, 6-3-1) defeated Albert Gallatin (0-12, 0-9) in Section 3-3A.
Freeport 6, Valley 0 — Emma Check scored two goals and Sidney Shemanski added a goal and three assists as Freeport (7-5-1, 6-3-0) shut out Valley (2-10, 0-9) in Section 2-AA. Maddie Zarichnak recorded two saves in the shutout.
