Rylie Busch and Mandy Pirosko scored to lead Trib HSSN Class 4A No. 1 Peters Township (4-0-2, 3-0) to a 2-0 victory over Upper St. Clair (4-1-2, 1-1-1) in a matchup of undefeated teams in Section 2-4A girls soccer Wednesday night.
Beaver 4, Ambridge 1 – Ana Hahn and Mia Furda scored two goals apiece to lead Beaver (5-3-1, 2-1-1) to a Section 3-2A win. Norah Marchionda scored for Ambridge (2-4, 0-3).
Belle Vernon 1, Keystone Oaks 0 – Courtney Martin scored for Belle Vernon (5-1-1, 3-1-1) in a Section 1-2A win over Keystone Oaks (4-5, 3-1).
Bentworth 4, Brownsville 0 – Bella Moyer recorded a hat trick and Madelyn Johns chipped in a goal while Julia Brandau kept a clean sheet as Bentworth (5-1-1, 3-0) defeated Brownsville (5-2-1, 1-1-1) in Section 2-A.
Beth-Center 8, California 2 – Kendall Welsh had a hat trick and Carrie Corbett, Serena Durkin, Ana Giovanneli, Hannah Binns and Dakotah Karkowski added a goal apiece to lead Beth-Center (4-2, 1-2) to a Section 2-A win over California (1-3, 0-3).
Burrell 3, Knoch 0 – Leah Waldsmith, Kendall Coury and Makiah Buchak each scored a goal and Eva Wilson had two assists to power Burrell (4-1-1, 3-0) to a Section 2-2A win against Knoch (1-6, 0-3). Casey Brancato saved five shots for the shutout.
Butler 2, North Hills 2 (OT) – Ava Soley and Callie McKindley scored to help Butler (2-3-1, 0-2-1) to a Section 3-4A draw with North Hills (2-3-1, 0-1-1).
Central Valley 4, Avonworth 0 – Reagan Patten had two goals and an assist, Gia Guandolo added a goal and an assist and Reese Held also scored to help Central Valley (2-1-1, 2-0-1) past Avonworth (4-4, 2-2) in Section 3-2A.
Deer Lakes 10, Ligonier Valley 1 – Bri Simonetti and Tessa Hollibaugh scored three goals apiece and Claire Cacurak added two to lead Deer Lakes (6-1, 2-1) past Ligonier Valley (1-5, 0-3) in a Section 4-2A win.
Fox Chapel 2, Hampton 1 (OT) – Emily McKee scored both goals, including the overtime winner, to lead Fox Chapel (6-1, 4-0) past Hampton (4-2, 2-1) in a matchup of top teams in Section 1-3A.
Franklin Regional 2, Gateway 0 – Allyssa Velasquez scored both goals for Franklin Regional (5-2) in a nonsection win over Gateway (2-4). Addison Ayres recorded her fifth shutout of the season.
Freeport 4, North Catholic 0 – Camryn Woods scored a pair of goals and Alyssa Alcorn preserved the shutout as Freeport (5-1, 3-0) handled North Catholic (5-3, 1-2) in Section 2-2A. Elena Jenkins and Peyton Los also scored for the Yellowjackets.
Indiana 4, West Mifflin 2 – Sophie Scardina scored two goals and Maddy Williams and Sarah Genchur added a goal apiece to lead Indiana (1-6, 1-3) to a Section 4-3A win. Caroline Chelosky and Megan Ezykowsky scored for West Mifflin (1-5, 0-4).
Mars 4, Shaler 1 – Miley Gratton scored two goals and Liv Halliday and Jade Breese added a goal apiece to lead Mars (5-2, 2-2) past Shaler (3-2-1, 1-2) in a Section 1-3A win.
Montour 3, West Allegheny 0 – Irelynn Hobbs had a pair of goals, Brooklyn Young also scored and Maddie Lewis earned the shutout for Montour (6-0, 4-0) in a Section 2-3A win over West Allegheny (3-5, 2-2).
Moon 6, Trinity 0 – Kendall Dydek had a hat trick, Emma Marquis followed with two goals and Anna Palm added one to lead Moon (6-1, 5-0) to a Section 2-3A win over Trinity (0-3-2, 0-3-1).
Mt. Pleasant 11, East Allegheny 0 – Emma Hatcher, Sophia Coppola and Carlee Pfeifer scored two goals apiece to lead Mt. Pleasant (5-1-1, 3-0) to a Section 4-2A win over East Allegheny (0-4, 0-3). Raygan Mizikar, Rachel Everly, Tori Tepper, Caitlyn Fullman and Izzy Overly also scored for the Vikings.
North Allegheny 3, Allderdice 1 – Avery Ruffus, Luci Zagacki and Bella Montgomery scored to lead North Allegheny (6-1-2) to an exhibition win over Allderdice (5-2) in Section 3-4A.
Penn-Trafford 8, Woodland Hills 0 – Ellie Lebe had a hat trick, Emilie Oslosky had two goals and Ava Oslosky, Ashlinn Connolly and Tori Yurt added a goal apiece to lead Penn-Trafford (3-2-1, 3-0) to a Section 1-4A win over Woodland Hills (0-4, 0-3).
Plum 3, Kiski Area 0 – Emily Grubich, Olivia Bigger and Brenna McLaughlin scored to lead Plum (5-0, 4-0) to a Section 4-3A win over Kiski Area (3-3, 3-2). Malayna Smith earned the shutout in net for the Mustangs.
Quaker Valley 9, Hopewell 0 – Anabel Miko scored four goals and had an assist and Lily Baker tallied a goal and a pair of assists to lead Quaker Valley (6-1, 3-0) to a Section 3-2A shutout win over Hopewell (0-5, 0-3). Elena Cindrich, Kallie McCune, Mia Duckstein and Eliza Rahm each added a goal while Ava Hajok kept a clean sheet for the Quakers.
Seneca Valley 1, Pine-Richland 0 – Karly Majeski scored a second-half goal to lift Seneca Valley (4-1-2, 2-0) past Pine-Richland (6-1-1, 1-1-1) in Section 3-4A.
Seton LaSalle 4, Serra Catholic 0 – Kennedy Bakota, Torri Carter, Elizabeth Sokos and Sydney Morgan scored a goal apiece to lead Seton LaSalle (5-2, 4-1) to a Section 3-A win over Serra Catholic (3-3, 1-3).
Shady Side Academy 10, Valley 0 – Sarah Kushnir and Reese Kearns scored hat tricks and Sofia Petersson added a pair of goals to lead Shady Side Academy (3-2, 1-1) past Valley (0-4, 0-3) in Section 2-2A. Maria Ravotti recorded the shutout.
South Fayette 4, Laurel Highlands 0 – Silvi Rossi scored a brace as Nora Davidovich and Gabby Beinecke each added a goal for South Fayette (5-1-1, 3-0) in a Section 3-3A victory over Laurel Highlands (3-2-1, 1-2).
South Park 6, Ringgold 0 – Arianna Beck scored a hat trick while Avery Rispoli, Ella Voyten and Berlin Washington each added a goal for South Park (7-0, 4-0) in a Section 1-2A shutout victory over Ringgold (1-4-1, 1-2-1).
Thomas Jefferson 7, Uniontown 0 – Aubrey Little, Sami Maglicco and Addison Fenlock had two goals apiece, Allison Wojnar also scored and Ali King and Nyla Kiral combined on the shutout as Thomas Jefferson (5-2, 3-0) blanked Uniontown (0-6, 0-3) in Section 3-3A.
Waynesburg 2, Chartiers-Houston 0 – Rylei Rastoka and Kolbi Rastoka each had a goal and an assist and Peyton Cowell was in net for the shutout as Waynesburg (5-1, 2-1) defeated Chartiers-Houston (3-1-1, 1-1-1) in Section 2-A.
Yough 5, Southmoreland 2 – Gionna Piontka had a hat trick and Leah Slavick and Bree Pisarcik added a goal apiece to lead Yough (2-4, 2-1) past Southmoreland (3-3-1, 2-1) in a Section 4-2A win.
Boys soccer
Allderdice 1, Latrobe 0 – Ethan Voight-Cherna scored with an assist from Santiago Carrillo and Allderdice (4-3) got a shutout from goalkeeper Harrison Fiscus in a nonsection win over Latrobe (1-4).
Girls tennis
Section 1-3A – Penn-Trafford’s Mia Williams is in position to win her fourth section singles title, defeating Bayleigh Vilage of Norwin, 6-1, 6-0, in the semifinals. She’ll face the winner of the other semifinal between No. 2 Michelle Yan of Franklin Regional and Allison Massaro of Latrobe.
Section 2-3A – Sixth-seeded Sonaya Arora of Pine-Richland got past second-seeded Mia Kaufman of North Allegheny in a three-set semifinal, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, to reach Thursday’s section finals. She’ll meet top-seeded Elinor Kim of North Hills, a 6-0, 6-1 semifinal winner over No. 5 Ravin Karlik of Montour.
Section 3-3A – Shady Side Academy teammates Meriwether McCargo and Cassie Lapina, the top two seeds, will meet for the section title Thursday. Both Bulldogs got past Fox Chapel players in the semifinals. McCargo, the two-time defending WPIAL singles champ, defeated Clara Drahnak and Lapina got past Zoey Liu. In Class 3A, the top four finishers advance to the WPIAL tournament.
Section 4-3A – Top-seeded senior Cami Fisher of Bethel Park and second-seeded freshman Brianna Kuczinski of Upper St. Clair will meet in the section finals. In the semifinals, Fisher downed Neve Zuzek of Peters Township, 6-0, 6-0, and Kuczinski defeated Carly Weber of Chartiers Valley, 6-1, 6-1.
Section 1-2A – Top seeded Bella Fullman of Mt. Pleasant and second-seeded Ava Radvansky of Burrell will meet for the section title Thursday at Valley. Fullman defeated Jenna Morrison of Burrell, 6-2, 6-0, in the semifinals, while Radvansky got past Melody March of Derry, 6-2, 6-0.
Section 2-2A –Two-time defending WPIAL champ Gabriella Dusi rolled into the section semifinals without dropping a game. She’ll meet Luciana Easly of Oakland Catholic on Thursday. In the other semifinal, No. 2 Mollie Sclichter of Oakland Catholic will meet No. 3 Veronica Zinski of Winchester Thurston. In Class 2a, the top three finishers advance to the WPIAL tournament.
Section 3-2A – Top seeds Evelyn Marche of North Catholic and Allegra Scaringi of Ellis School advanced to the section finals. Marche won an all-North Catholic semifinal, beating Macaria Stall, 6-4, 6-1. Scaringi topped Arianna Barbera of Hampton, 6-4, 6-1.
Section 5-2A – The top players from rivals Quaker Valley and Sewickley Academy will meet for the section singles title. Top-seeded Avery Allen of Quaker Valley reached the finals with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Abby Smith of Ambridge. Second-seeded Lucy Taylor won an all-Sewickley Academy semifinal by beating Sutton Rea, 6-1, 6-0.
Boys golf
Chartiers-Houston 205, OLSH 213 – Cooper Swarrow made a hole-in one on the 128-yard second hole and shot a 37 to lead Chartiers-Houston to a Section 4-2A win.
Freeport 182, Burrell 216 – Ethan Crooks shot a 3-under 33 at Buffalo GC to lead Freeport to a Section 1-2A victory. All five Freeport golfers broke 40 for what is believed to be a school-record total of 182. Carson Kane shot 35, Aiden Bauman 37, Max Zigo 38 and Gavin Tola 39.
North Allegheny 176 , Pine-Richland 203 – Ravi Desai shot a blistering 7-under 29 at North Park G.C. to lead North Allegheny to a Section 3-3A win.
