High school roundup for Sept. 12, 2018: No. 1 Peters Township girls blank No. 5 Mt. Lebanon

Natalie Daube scored twice to help No. 1 Peters Township earn a 3-0 victory over No. 5 Mt. Lebanon (2-2-2, 2-1-1) in a Section 2-4A girls soccer game Wednesday night.

Chloe Trapanotto added a goal for the Indians (6-0, 4-0), who have outscored opponents 23-4 this season.

North Allegheny 3, Seneca Valley 0 — Led by Alex Adams’ two goals, No. 3 North Allegheny (4-0, 3-0) earned a Section 1-4A win.

Pine-Richland 6, Butler 1 — Megan Donnelly, Alaina Kalin and Allie Malobicky all had two goals as Pine-Richland (4-2, 1-2) rolled to a Section 1-4A victory.

Canon-McMillan 22, Brashear 0 — Annabelle Thomas had four goals and Emily Clopp scored three as Canon-McMillan (2-1-1, 2-1-1) won in Section 2-4A.

Moon 2, Bethel Park 0 — Maddie Sleva pitched a shutout, and Ana Molnar and Abby McEnroe scored as Moon (3-1-1, 2-1-1) won a Section 2-4A game.

Gateway 2, Knoch 0 — Becca Kubler and Olivia Wood scored first-half goals to guide Gateway (3-3, 1-3) to a Section 1-3A win.

Hampton 2, Indiana 1 — Courtney Coholich scored the game-winning goal to give Hampton (3-2, 3-1) a Section 1-3A victory.

Ringgold 2, Elizabeth Forward 1 — Madison Bailey and Moe Rosensteel scored to lift Ringgold (2-3, 2-1) to a Section 2-3A triumph.

West Allegheny 4, South Fayette 3 — Mackenzie Evans scored twice to help West Allegheny (4-1, 4-0) earn a Section 4-3A victory. Rachel Weis scored twice for No. 4 South Fayette (3-1, 2-1).

Central Valley 1, Chartiers Valley 0 (2OT) — Sarah Almasy scored and Gabby Martin notched the shutout as Central Valley (2-2, 1-2) won a Section 4-3A game in double overtime.

Montour 3, Blackhawk 0 – Sarah Malinsky earned the shutout as Montour (4-1, 3-0) won in Section 3-4A.

Chartiers-Houston 3, Beth-Center 2 (OT) — Junior Alexis Dzavosky scored her first varsity goal in overtime to give Chartiers-Houston (4-2, 3-0) a Section 2-A win. Desiree Hancq and Keely Acor also scored for the Bucs.

Seton LaSalle 3, Winchester Thurston 2 — Vanessa Peretin scored twice to lift Seton LaSalle (2-1-1, 2-1-1) to a Section 4-A win.

Latrobe 4, Allderdice 0 — Maddie DeLucio scored three times to lead Latrobe to its first win of the season.

Morgan Reilly also scored, and Lillian Jones made six saves for the Wildcats, who improved to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in Section 3-4A.

Penn-Trafford 4, Hempfield 0 — Kiley Dugan, Jordan Lawrence, Christina DeLuca and Malia Kearns scored to guide Penn-Trafford (2-1, 2-0) to a Section 3-4A win. Sarah Nguyen had two assists for the Warriors.

Kiski Area 1, Franklin Regional 0 (OT) — Chloe Galo scored five minutes into overtime off a free kick by Courtney Moyer to propel Kiski Area (4-0, 4-0) to a Section 1-3A win over Franklin Regional (2-3, 1-3). Lizzy Arbster made four saves for the Cavaliers.

Greensburg Salem 6, Albert Gallatin 0 — Riley Stoner and Kiley Smith each scored twice, and Autumn Sarsfield and Nikki Mellinger added goals to lift Greensburg Salem (4-1, 4-0) to a Section 2-3A victory. Becky Handke made two saves to earn the shutout.

Yough 6, South Allegheny 2 — Justine Appolonia scored five times in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and lead Yough (2-1, 2-1) to a Section 3-2A victory. Hadley Sleith also scored for the Cougars.

Derry 2, Southmoreland 0 — Freshman Sydney Williams scored twice, and freshman keeper Faith Shean earned the shutout as Derry (1-2, 1-1) won a Section 3-2A game.

GCC 9, Serra Catholic 1 — Tatum Gretz scored four goals, and Sam Felder had two as No. 3 Greensburg Central Catholic (1-0, 1-0) won its Section 1-A opener. Brenda Springer, Sarah Orndoff and Sam Nemeth also scored for the Centurions.

Bentworth 10, Monessen 1 — Jocelyn Timlin scored four goals, including the 70th of her career to become Bentworth’s all-time leading scorer, as the No. 4 Bearcats (4-0, 2-0) won a Section 2-A game.

Fox Chapel 5, Shaler 1 — Sarah Sinnott recorded a hat trick, the first three goals of the game in Fox Chapel’s Section 1-AAAA win. Maura Curry and Kaylee Uribe had one goal and one assist each for the Foxes (3-1, 2-1), and Kate Feczko recorded four saves. Shaler dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in section play.

Plum 1, Thomas Jefferson 0 — Gina Proviano scored early in the first half, and Plum (3-1, 2-1) held on from there to earn a Section 3-AAA win at Thomas Jefferson (2-4, 2-2). Ally Bryner and Zoe Nonnenberg combined for the shutout in net.

Freeport 5, Valley 0 — Sidney Shemanski and Emma Check scored a pair of goals and had an assist apiece for Freeport (2-2, 2-1) at Valley (0-3, 0-2) in a Section 2-AA match. Carli Giori added a goal and an assist.

Burrell 3, Highlands 0 — Annie Weimer had a pair of goals, and Delaney O’Brien made eight saves for Burrell in a Section 2-AA win. Maia Ferra added a goal for the Bucs. Sam Gildner made 23 saves in goal for the Golden Rams (2-3, 1-2).

Apollo-Ridge 1, East Allegheny 1 — Emily Bonelli had a goal on a penalty kick for Apollo-Ridge (2-0-1, 1-0-1) in a Section 2-AA draw at East Allegheny (1-2-1, 0-2-1). Madison Galinac made five saves for the Vikings.

Riverview 4, Jeannette 3 — Francesca Lio recorded a hat trick to help Riverview (1-3, 1-1) secure a Section 1-A win at Jeannette (0-3, 0-2). Eleni Wyrick added a goal for the Raiders, and Alyssa Cappa and Sydney McDonough recorded an assist apiece. Syndey Shifko scored twice for Jeannette.

North Hills 4, Deer Lakes 2 — Madeline Boulos and Nina Lafko scored one goal each, but the Lancers dropped a nonsection matchup to North Hills (3-2-1). Lily Litrun recorded an assist, and Gabby Weber made six saves in the loss (4-1).

Boys soccer

Plum 2, Penn-Trafford 1 (OT) — Darius Flowers scored 1 minute, 30 seconds into overtime to give Plum a Section 3-AAAA win over Penn-Trafford (2-3, 2-2). Luke Gildea scored to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead, and Jordan Floyd and Luke Kolankowski recorded assists for Plum (2-3, 1-2).

Girls volleyball

Leechburg 3, Apollo-Ridge 1 — Brenna Callahan recorded six kills and two aces to lead Leechburg get past Apollo-Ridge in nonsection play. Maddie Ancosky added two kills, three aces and three blocks. Kristen Knapp also recorded two aces and five digs for Leechburg (3-1).

Field hockey

North Allegheny 5, Norwin 4 — Marissa Hess scored with 1 minute remaining to lead North Allegheny (3-1, 2-0) to a Division I victory. Jessica Kolesar scored twice, and Karlie Pavlic and Katie Donofrio also scored for Norwin, which led 2-0 at halftime.
