High school roundup for Sept. 16, 2023: QB Kole Olszewski lights it up for Bishop Canevin

Kole Olszewski hit on 14 of 19 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns as Bishop Canevin rolled to a 35-0 victory over Burgettstown (1-2, 0-1) in Class A Black Hills Conference action Saturday night.

Az’Jaun Marshall hauled in two of Olszewski’s touchdown passes, catching a total of five balls for 141 yards. Jayden Lindsey and Tyjer Clayton also had touchdown receptions for the Crusaders (3-0, 1-0).

Boys soccer

Bethel Park 2, Mt. Lebanon 1 — Adam Thompson and Henry Gaston scored to help Bethel Park (7-1) edge Mt. Lebanon (2-6-1) in nonsection action.

Blackhawk 5, Brashear 0 — Luke Shope tallied a goal and an assist as Blackhawk (1-7) posted the nonsection shutout over Brashear (0-3).

Butler 4, Knoch 0 — Thomas Sheptak had two goals and an assist as Butler (6-2-1) blanked Knoch (4-6) in nonsection play. Drew Knight and Thaddeus Mago shared the shutout in net.

Elizabeth Forward 8, Yough 1 — Will Sinay and Dom Cavalier had two goals apiece for Elizabeth Forward (4-2-1) in a nonsection win over Yough (5-3-1).

Jeannette 4, Riverview 2 — Jordan Taylor recorded the hat trick as Jeannette (5-3) beat Riverview (2-5) in a nonsection game. Chris O’Toole had both Riverview goals.

Mars 8, Ambridge 1 — Nick Butler had two goals and Mars (5-2-1) earned a nonsection win over Ambridge (1-8-1).

Quaker Valley 2, Moon 0 — Kiril Grin scored both goals as Quaker Valley (6-2) beat Moon (6-2-1) in nonsection play.

Seton LaSalle 5, Eden Christian 0 — Jack Billick scored three goals and Nick Cherry recorded the clean sheet as Seton LaSalle (5-1-1) beat Eden Christian (5-2-1) in a nonsection contest.

Thomas Jefferson 4, Uniontown 0 — Brayden Miller scored twice while Cody O’Hare posted the shutout as Thomas Jefferson (7-1, 5-1) beat Uniontown (4-7, 1-6) in Section 3-3A.

Girls soccer

Charleroi 9, Yough 1 — Bella Carroto had four goals and two assists to lead Charleroi (6-1) to the nonsection win against Yough (3-5). McKenna DeUnger added three goals and two assists.

Knoch 2, Gateway 2 — Macrina Robb and Lauren Slusser scored as Knoch (3-3-1) played to a draw with Gateway (1-3-1) in a nonsection match.

Moon 5, McDowell 0 — Addy Jacoby, Lauren Muhanna, Ally Dalesio, Julianna Lantzy and Elizabeth Gallup scored to pace Moon (6-1-1) in a nonsection victory. Syd Felton had four assists.

Seneca Valley 6, Fort LeBeouf 1 — Ashlee Libby scored a pair of goals for Seneca Valley (7-0) in a nonsection win. Addison Shank, Karly Majeski, Ayla Ward and Lexi Shattahi added a goal each for the Raiders.

Serra Catholic 8, McKeesport 0 — In nonsection play, Lydia Reith had three goals and an assist as Serra Catholic (3-3) shut out McKeesport (0-4). Jules Filia contributed two goals.

Thomas Jefferson 10, Uniontown 0 — Cece Wessel had a hat trick and Anna Kondos and Sami Maglico scored two goals each for Thomas Jefferson (6-1, 5-0) in a Section 3-3A triumph over Uniontown (3-5, 0-4).

Pine-Richland 5, Novi (Mich.) 0 — Anna Merlack and Jessica Albertson scored two goals each as Pine-Richland beat Novi (Mich.) in a nonsection matchup.
