Calder Mahan scored a pair of goals to lead Avonworth to a 4-2 victory over Central Valley (5-2, 4-2) in a matchup of contenders in Section 2-2A boys soccer Tuesday. Cody Cwynar had a goal and an assist and Nate Kline also scored for the Antelopes (7-1, 5-1).
Allderdice 5, Belle Vernon 1 – Ethan Voight-Cherna scored a hat trick, Luca Fuerte and Julien Dixon-Webster also scored and Jonah Libertus and Luke Peña had two assists each to lead Allderdice (5-4) past Belle Vernon (4-5-1) in a Section 3-3A exhibition. Chris Showman had the only goal for the Leopards.
Aquinas Academy 10, Bishop Canevin 0 – Marco Anselmino had a hat trick and Mark Rounding and Lorenzo Anselmino scored two goals each to send Aquinas Academy (6-2, 4-0) to a Section 3-A win over Bishop Canevin (2-4, 2-2).
Beaver County Christian 2, Eden Christian 0 – Andrew Kickasola had a goal and an assist, Kian Wilsey also scored and Mike Lanigan made six saves for his fifth shutout to lead Beaver County Christian (7-0, 4-0) past Eden Christian (2-6, 1-3) in Section 1-A.
Beth-Center 7, Greensburg Central Catholic 1 – Parker Amos scored three goals and had two assists and Nakoda Bundy buried two goals and had three assists to power Beth-Center (6-2, 3-1) to a Section 2-A win over Greensburg Central Catholic (1-4, 1-3). Wyatt Pash and Hunter Bobbs scored for the Bulldogs.
Bethel Park 3, Laurel Highlands 2 (OT) – Xavier Jackson scored the overtime winner and added two assists and Youssef Benrabia collected two goals and an assist to lead Bethel Park (5-1-1, 5-0-1) to a Section 2-3A victory. Cole Radcliffe had a goal and an assist and Roman George also scored for Laurel Highlands (5-3, 3-3).
Brentwood 4, Serra Catholic 3 (OT) – Bryan Corea scored two goals, including the overtime winner, to lift Brentwood (3-4-1, 1-2-1) past Serra Catholic (2-6, 0-4) in Section 3-A. Patrick Ziegler and Mohammas Ismael each added a goal for the Spartans. Will Freiwald scored two goals and Tyler Graham added another for the Eagles.
Canon-McMillan 6, Connellsville 1 – Gavin Patterson and Adam Kuchera each had two goals and two assists and Collin Turner and Jack Thomas also scored for Canon-McMillan (5-2, 2-2) in a Section 2-4A win over Connellsville (2-7-1, 0-4).
Charleroi 9, Derry 2 – Blake Pendo had three goals and an assist and Adolph Noel, Otis McIntire and Dylan Klinger scored two goals each to lead Charleroi (6-2, 5-0) over Derry (1-6-1, 0-5-1) in Section 4-2A.
Deer Lakes 7, Freeport 0 – Peyton Kushon scored two goals while Collin Rodgers, Artemis Parshyn, Jacob Orseno, Cuyler Crim and Colton Bish each added a goal as Deer Lakes (8-2, 6-0) shutout Freeport (5-3-1, 2-3-1) in Section 1-2A.
Elizabeth Forward 12, Ligonier Valley 1 – Tucker Ritchie-McCune scored a hat trick and Luca Valerio scored two goals and dished out four assists in a Section 3-2A win for Elizabeth Forward (6-3, 5-1). Aidan Davis and Ryan Stroschein each added a brace and Bo Hallas, Levi George and Evan Marasco also scored for the Warriors. Ryan Donaldson scored for Ligonier Valley (2-6, 2-4).
Franklin Regional 3, West Mifflin 0 – Aiden Alexander scored two goals and Cruise Lamanna deposited another as Franklin Regional (8-1, 3-1) blanked West Mifflin (2-5-1, 1-3) in Section 3-3A.
Hampton 5, Indiana 1 – Xavier Ware scored twice while Beckett Barton, Matteo Sciulli and Carson Colvin each had a goal to help Hampton (6-1-1, 4-0-1) past Indiana (4-4-1, 1-3-1) in Section 1-3A.
Highlands 5, Burrell 0 – Jackson Babinsack netted a pair of goals to send Highlands (3-2-1, 3-2-1) past Burrell (2-6, 2-4) in Section 1-2A. Brady Celko and Ryan Maloney each had a goal and an assist and Dean Besterman also scored for the Golden Rams.
Keystone Oaks 7, Mohawk 2 – Isaiah Labwon scored a hat trick to lead Keystone Oaks (2-4, 2-4) past Mohawk (0-7, 0-6) in Section 2-2A.
Kiski Area 2, Armstrong 1 – Landon Drum and Max Holm scored second-half goals and Ben Vokes made 12 saves to lead Kiski Area (2-5, 2-4) past Armstrong (2-6, 1-4) in Section 1-3A.
Latrobe 4, Uniontown 1 – John Massaro netted a pair of goals and Jacob Stephenson and Steel Brunton also scored for Latrobe (4-4, 3-1) in a Section 3-3A victory over Uniontown (2-6, 0-4).
Mars 3, Knoch 2 – Frank Knezovich had a goal and an assist to lead Mars (6-3-1, 4-0-1) past Knoch (2-5-1, 1-3-1) in Section 1-3A.
McGuffey 5, East Allegheny 0 – Anson Ward had a pair of goals and Jaiden Newton, Nico Borello and Charlie Desmond also scored for McGuffey (7-2, 4-2) in a Section 3-2A win over East Allegheny (0-6, 0-6).
Moon 2, Chartiers Valley 1 (OT) – Eric Haupt scored both goals while Hayden Dun and Evan Anderson dished out an assist each to lead Moon (6-3, 5-0) past Chartiers Valley (3-3, 3-2) in Section 4-3A.
Mt. Lebanon 2, Woodland Hills 1 – Miko Perkovich and James Havas scored to lead Mt. Lebanon (7-2, 3-1) past Woodland Hills (3-3, 2-2) in Section 2-4A.
Norwin 1, Penn Hills 0 – Caleb Maddock scored the decisive goal, assisted by Logan Plichta, to lift Norwin (4-3-2, 3-0-1) past Penn Hills (2-6-1, 1-3) in Section 1-4A.
OLSH 11, Carlynton 0 – Brady Hernandez recorded a hat trick and Owen Minzer added a brace to pace OLSH (6-0, 4-0) to a Section 3-A win over Carlynton (0-6-2, 0-3-1). Peter Zink, Chad Minton, Jeremy Ye, Colby Lane, Grant Greisacker and Aaron Callahan each added a goal for the Chargers.
Peters Township 5, Upper St. Clair 0 – Charlie Lulich and Anthony Maiello each had a pair of goals and Colin Froelich also scored as Peters Township (7-0, 4-0) rolled Upper St. Clair (1-7, 1-3) in Section 2-4A. Jack Stewart saved a penalty kick to preserve the shutout for Peters.
Pine-Richland 3, North Hills 0 – Ryan Cashman scored two goals and Nico DeJesus added another to lead Pine-Richland (3-5-1, 1-3) to their first win after four straight losses, claiming victory over North Hills (6-3-1, 1-2-1) in Section 3-4A.
Plum 4, Hempfield 0 – Austin Kolankowski scored twice, Andy Strasser had a goal and an assist and AJ Arrigo also scored for Plum (8-1-1, 3-0-1) in a Section 1-4A win over Hempfield (2-6, 1-3). Chase Eber and Jack Majcher combined on the shutout.
Ringgold 2, South Fayette 1 – Izaiah Wilson produced a goal and an assist and Josh Molisee scored a goal to lead Ringgold (4-3, 3-3) to a Section 2-3A win over South Fayette (2-5, 2-4).
Riverview 4, Jeannette 1 – Freshman Greg Morse had a hat trick, Liam Ulrich also scored and Mason Bodnar had a pair of assists to lead Riverview (4-4-1, 1-2-1) to a Section 4-A win. McAllister Steele scored for Jeannette (2-5, 0-3).
Seneca Valley 3, North Allegheny 0 – Owen Eastgate, Tomis Spudic and Jacob Prex each found the back of the net to lead Seneca Valley (8-1, 3-1) past North Allegheny (5-2-2, 2-1-1) in a matchup of top teams in Section 3-4A. Francis Randiga scored for the Tigers.
Seton LaSalle 6, South Allegheny 0 – Tyler Kovalcik, Gavin McMahon and Darius Norkevicus each scored a brace and Charlie Kicinski kept a clean net as Seton LaSalle (8-1, 5-1) thumped South Allegheny (2-7, 1-5) in Section 3-2A.
Shaler 3, Obama Academy 1 – Alex Gaetano, Anthony Tylenda and Tazanie Hinds scored as Shaler (5-3) defeated Obama Academy (5-3) in a Section 1-3A exhibition.
Springdale 5, Trinity Christian School 1 – Alex Wylly scored a hat trick and Mason Mattie had two goals and three assists to power Springdale (5-1, 4-0) to a Section 4-A win over Trinity Christian (3-5, 2-2).
Thomas Jefferson 2, Trinity 0 – Owen Householder and Gavin Kerr converted second-half penalty kicks and Sam Wessel earned the shutout for Thomas Jefferson (8-0-1, 5-0-1) in a Section 2-3A win over Trinity (4-3, 4-2).
West Allegheny 9, Blackhawk 0 – Jonah Luffe scored a hat trick, Anthony Mimna had two goals and an assist and Zach Wallace earned the shutout for West Allegheny (3-4, 3-2) in a Section 4-3A win over Blackhawk (2-7, 1-4). Aaron Bouch had a goal and two assists, Brandon Mock added a goal and an assist and Josh Bohley and Colton Yonker also scored.
Yough 3, Waynesburg 1 – Tyler Smith, Noah Jurcevich and Isaac Pacacha were the goal scorers as Yough (5-2, 4-1) took care of Waynesburg (1-5-1, 1-4-1) in Section 4-2A.

Oakland Catholic 3, Laurel Highlands 1 – Avianna Gibs scored a pair of goals and Maddi Steffey knocked in another as Oakland Catholic (5-4, 3-2) beat Laurel Highlands (4-4-1, 2-3) in Section 3-3A.
Girls volleyball
Beaver 3, Central Valley 0 – Kailyn Connelly had 11 kills, Jaedyn Brown and Lanie Malobabaich each had nine kills and Anna Vinopal produced 11 digs as Beaver swept Central Valley (3-4, 2-1) in Section 4-3A. Kayden Blinn had 31 assists and nine digs for the Bobcats.
Canon-McMillan 3, Baldwin 0 – Natalie Carr had 19 kills and four aces, Carsen Brown dished out 16 assists and Amanda Ciolli finished with nine digs for Canon-McMillan (5-1, 2-1) in a Section 1-4A win over Baldwin (3-3, 0-3). Journee Scott added eight kills and Katie Wing had 11 assists for the Big Macs.
Frazier 3, California 1 – Maddie Salisbury had 19 kills and Allie Monack collected 11 kills, 24 assists and three blocks to lead Frazier (5-2, 3-0) past California (6-2, 3-1) in a matchup of top teams in Section 4-A. Morgan Fisher had 17 assists and Addison Hiles finished with 23 digs for the Commodores.
Greensburg Salem 3, West Mifflin 0 – Patty Redinger had 16 kills, Grace Hayden added 10 kills and Bella Dinkel collected 30 assists and 14 digs to lead undefeated Greensburg Salem (6-0, 4-0) past West Mifflin (3-5, 1-3) in Section 5-3A.
Hempfield 3, Connellsville 0 – Lauren Howard had 10 kills, Claire Mitchell added nine and Ella Berkebike finished with eight to lead Hempfield (4-2, 2-1) past Connellsville (0-7, 0-3) in Section 3-4A.
Mapletown 3, West Greene 1 – Treslee Weston had 14 kills, eight aces and nine digs while Marley Shiflett finished with two kills, 15 assists, five digs and a block to power Mapletown (3-3, 1-2) to a Section 3-A win over West Greene (0-3, 0-1).
Mars 3, Valley 0 – Cecilia Christy had eight kills, Kate Southwell finished with seven kills and Gabi Weidemann handed out 22 assists to lead Mars (6-2, 3-0) past Valley (1-5, 0-3) in Section 2-3A.
Mohawk 3, Shenango 2 – Reagan Magno had 20 kills and five blocks, Marli McBride collected nine kills and 17 digs and Riley Shaffer had four kills, nine digs and 19 assists to power Mohawk (6-1, 4-0) to a five-set win over Shenango (4-1, 3-1) in a matchup of top teams in Section 4-2A. Macey Tanner had 21 assists and 11 digs, Emme Druschel contributed eight kills and Sara Hampson had 10 digs and two kills for the Warriors.
South Allegheny 3, Sto-Rox 0; South Allegheny 3, Sto-Rox 0 – South Allegheny (6-2, 4-1) swept Sto-Rox (0-3, 0-3) in a Section 2-2A doubleheader. The Gladiators took the first game behind 13 aces from Bailey DeDecco and five kills and three aces from Ally Chizmar. In the second game, Naomi Ielase had 11 aces and four kills, while Brooke Bernath and Miyah Hill each added four kills and a pair of aces for South Allegheny.
Field hockey
Peters Township 2, Latrobe 1 – Aubrey Arabia and Sofia Bergman each scored a goal to guide Peters Township (4-1-1, 3-0-1) to a Class 2A win over Latrobe (2-3-2, 0-3-2). Karter Kubistek scored on a feed from Macy Schultz for the Wildcats.
Boys golf
Section 3-2A – Nemacolin CC was nearly undefeated in the section tournament, with only Waynesburg’s Jarett Tretinik hitting the target score of 83 to advance to the WPIAL tournament.
Section 5-2A – Laurel’s Eli Bintrim fired a 4-under 68 to take medalist honors at Sylvan Heights. He was followed by Ellwood City teammates Jaxon Rozanski (72) and Jordan Keller (73) and Neshannock teammates Rocco Bautti (74), Aspen Tanner (74) and Noah Gabriel (75).
Girls golf
Section 1-3A – North Allegheny’s Kayli Dings took medalist honors with a 6-over 78 at Fox Run, finishing one stroke ahead of Mars’ Elise Wadas.
Section 3-3A – Defending state champ Mya Morgan of Elizabeth Forward shot a 2-under 70 at Manor Valley to claim section medalist honors. Norwin’s Adalena Robb was second with a 78, followed by Hempfield’s Kat Devito (80).
Section 1-2A – Chartiers-Houston’s JoJo Jaskulski shot a blistering 5-under 67 at Donegal Highlands to take section medalist honors by 12 strokes. Greensburg Central Catholic’s Alayna Sawovy (79) was second.
