Kieran Shannon and Abigail Stager found the net to lead North Allegheny to a 2-0 victory over Seneca Valley (8-1, 6-1) in a battle of undefeated teams in Section 1-4A girls soccer Wednesday night. Natalie Rak recorded the shutout for the Tigers (10-0, 7-0).
Avonworth 3, Quaker Valley 0 – Emma Luther, Gianna Babusci and Fiona Mahan each had a goal and an assist and Elena Zimmerman recorded the shutout as Avonworth (8-0-2, 6-0) beat Quaker Valley (5-2-1, 3-2-1) in Section 1-2A.
Bentworth 3, Beth-Center 1 – Emily Kisner, Meredith Allender and Alex Jackson scored as Bentworth (4-4-1, 2-3-1) defeated Beth-Center (1-7, 0-6) in Section 2-A action.
Blackhawk 2, Trinity 1 – Piper Romigh scored in the first half and Elise Hanna netted the game-winner in the second half for Blackhawk (5-5, 3-3) in a Section 4-3A victory over Trinity (0-8, 0-6).
Butler 4, North Hills 0 – Leah Weiland recorded a hat trick and Leah Deal added a goal and two assists as Butler (6-3, 5-2) shut out North Hills (0-8, 0-7) in Section 1-4A.
Canon-McMillan 1, Baldwin 0 – Abby Ault scored the decisive goal as Canon-McMillan (5-3-1, 5-1-1) topped Baldwin (3-6, 1-6) in Section 2-4A.
Charleroi 8, Monessen 2 – McKenna DeUnger and Bella Carroto collected three goals and three assists apiece to lead Charleroi (8-1, 5-1) to a Section 2-A win. Rhianna Grogan added a goal and two assists and Lita Zelinski also scored. Samantha Saylor had a pair of goals for Monessen (2-5-1, 1-4-1).
East Allegheny 3, Ligonier Valley 1 – Madison Fabrizi had a hat trick as East Allegheny (1-5, 1-4) picked up its first win of the season with a Section 3-2A victory over Ligonier Valley (0-8, 0-5). Kasey Beresford had two assists and Sarah Fabrizi added an assist for the Wildcats.
Elizabeth Forward 3, Belle Vernon 0 – Brooklyn Baldensperger scored twice, Giovanna Ferraro added a goal, and Adysson Davis recorded the shutout for Elizabeth Forward (5-2, 5-1) in a Section 2-3A win over Belle Vernon (3-5-1, 2-4-1).
Franklin Regional 6, Penn Hills 0 – Allyssa Velasquez had a hat trick and Aris Lamanna and Addison Ayres combined on the shutout as Franklin Regional (6-3, 4-2) beat Penn Hills (2-6, 0-6) in Section 3-3A. Abby Paterline, Shaeley Reichbaum and Reilly Weaver also scored.
Greensburg Central Catholic 18, Jeannette 0 – Addison Vacanti and Riley Kerr scored four goals apiece, Jiana Patterson recorded a hat trick, and Victoria Walters and Ava Fisher each scored a pair of goals as Greensburg Central (5-1, 5-1) rolled Jeannette (0-6-1, 0-5) in Section 1-1A.
Hampton 2, Oakland Catholic 1 – Sophia Zebrine and Molly Interthal scored and Sara Kenst and Kate Lewis each had an assist for Hampton (7-1, 5-1) in a Section 1-3A victory over Oakland Catholic (3-4-1, 3-2-1).
Kiski Area 1, Indiana 0 – Camryn Kunz scored off an assist from Sophia Hranica and Ashley Dudzik kept a clean net for Kiski Area (4-5-1, 3-2-1) in a Section 1-3A win over Indiana (2-7, 1-5).
Knoch 3, Deer Lakes 2 – Kam Burtner scored two goals, including the game-winner, to propel Knoch (4-3-2, 3-1-1) to a Section 2-2A win over Deer Lakes (4-3-2, 2-2). Gretta Hull also scored for the Knights.
Latrobe 5, Gateway 1 – Robin Reilly and Emerson Shine had two goals apiece to lead Latrobe (6-1, 5-1) past Gateway (2-4-1, 2-4) in Section 3-3A. Ava Yurko also scored and Maddy Petruzzi had two assists for the Wildcats.
Montour 2, West Allegheny 0 – Annabelle Titus and Marlo Cyanovich each scored a goal as Montour (7-0-2, 5-0-1) beat West Allegheny (6-4, 3-3) in Section 4-3A.
North Catholic 3, Beaver 0 – Lauren Mealie scored all three goals to lead North Catholic (6-2, 5-1) to a Section 1-2A win over Beaver (4-3-1, 2-3-1). Simone Sharpless collected a pair of assists and Makenzie DeBlassio also had an assist.
Pine-Richland 1, Shaler 0 – Molly Baker scored the lone goal for Pine-Richland (3-6, 3-4) in a Section 1-4A win over Shaler (3-6, 1-6).
Seton LaSalle 2, Steel Valley 1 – Angelina McGrath and Sydney Towers scored to lift Seton LaSalle (3-3, 1-3) past Steel Valley (1-10, 1-5) in Section 1-A. Regan Mazur stopped 11 of 12 shots for the Rebels.
Shady Side Academy 9, Brownsville 0 – Sarah Kusnir had three goals and an assist and Savanna Muir added a pair of goals to power Shady Side Academy (7-2, 4-1) past Brownsville (0-9, 0-5) in Section 4-2A.
South Fayette 3, Chartiers Valley 0 – Sammi Sharrer, Mia Deramo and Mia Patel scored for South Fayette (5-4-1, 4-2) in a Section 4-3A win against Chartiers Valley (3-6, 1-5).
South Park 9, Keystone Oaks 1 – Brooke Paylo and Taylor Vargo each scored twice to lead South Park (7-1, 5-0) over Keystone Oaks (5-4, 3-2) in Section 4-2A. Addison Kerr, Alicia Riberich, Ari Beck, Avery Rispoli and Hayley Bennett also scored for the Eagles.
Thomas Jefferson 8, Ringgold 1 – Denika Bergman and Ashlynn Fry each netted a pair to power Thomas Jefferson (8-1, 7-0) to a Section 2-3A win over Ringgold (3-6-2, 2-4-1). Natalie Lamenza, Cece Wessel, Katie Sukal and Sami Maglicco also scored for the Jaguars.
Upper St. Clair 8, Norwin 0 – Sierra Dupre had five goals and an assist to pace Upper St. Clair (8-1, 6-1) in a Section 2-4A win over Norwin (2-7, 2-5). Abby Mascaro scored twice and Natalia DiSora had a goal and an assist.
Waynesburg 4, South Allegheny 0 – Ella Miller had two goals and an assist, Rylei Rastoka added a goal and an assist, and Kaley Rohanna also scored to lift Waynesburg (6-2, 4-2) to a Section 2-A win over South Allegheny (6-3, 3-3). Peyton Cowell recorded the shutout.
West Mifflin 3, McGuffey 1 – Jada Downs had a hat trick to power West Mifflin (4-4, 2-3) to a Section 1-A win. Haleigh Maxwell scored for McGuffey (2-5, 1-4).
Woodland Hills 2, Yough 0 – Abbi Sholtes and Olivia Wilson scored to lead Woodland Hills (4-3, 3-2) to a shutout win over Yough (3-7, 2-3) in Section 3-2A.
Boys soccer
Bentworth 14, Geibel 0 – John Scott scored a hat trick, Cameron Butler and Andrew Vipperman each netted a pair, and Austin Hollier, Ben Frost and Bryan Taylor each added a goal as Bentworth (8-1, 5-1) defeated Geibel in Section 2-A. Dillan Colbert, Ryan Moessner, Billy Moyer and Caden Hackinson also scored for the Bearcats.
Girls volleyball
Hampton 3, Gateway 0 – Emma Rick had four aces, five kills and 11 digs and Lilly Muczinski had 15 digs and 30 assists as Hampton emerged with a sweep of Gateway in Section 1-3A.
Boys golf
Section 3-3A – Butler’s Hunter Swidzinski and North Allegheny’s Jacob Phrampus tied for medalist honors with a 1-over 71 at Cranberry Highlands. Both Butler and North Allegheny sent six golfers through to the WPIAL Class 3A tournament. A total of 29 players hit the target qualifying score of 81.
Girls golf
Section 2-3A – Ellie Benson and Brooke Vowcheck tied for medalist honors at 3-over 73 and led a contingent of five Peters Township players who qualified for the WPIAL tournament. Elizabeth Forward’s Mya Morgan was third with a 74.
