High school roundup for Sept. 22, 2025: Fox Chapel rallies from 2-goal hole to beat Shaler

Emily McKee scored all three goals to lead Fox Chapel to a 3-2 comeback victory over Shaler in Section 1-3A girls soccer Monday afternoon.
The Foxes (9-1, 6-0) fell behind 2-0 in the first 15 minutes of the game before rallying. Naudia Zotter and Gabby Alcalde scored for the Titans (6-3-1, 3-3).
Armstrong 3, Indiana 1 – Callie Adkins scored two goals and Aubrey Grafton added one to lead Armstrong (4-5-1) to a nonsection win. Sarah Genchur scored for Indiana (1-9).
Belle Vernon 3, Steel Valley 1 – Courtney Martin scored two goals and Abby Russell added one to lead Belle Vernon (7-2-1, 5-1-1) past Steel Valley (1-7, 1-5) in a Section 1-2A win.
Hempfield 4, Southmoreland 1 – Jiana Patterson scored two goals and Sydney Pritts and Mckenzie Little added a goal apiece to lead Hempfield (2-9) past Southmoreland (3-6-1) in a nonsection win.
Keystone Oaks 2, Ringgold 1 – Aly Simon and Bella Boshoff scored to power Keystone Oaks (16-6, 5-2) past Ringgold (2-6-1, 2-3-1) in Section 1-2A.
Kiski Area 7, Greensburg Salem 0 – Ellie Arnold scored twice and Bria Bires and Emma Brink combined on the shutout as Kiski Area (5-3, 5-2) defeated Greensburg Salem (4-7, 2-5) in Section 4-3A. Hannah Keibler, Tessa Shaffer, Addison Buffone, Addison Bell and Val Klingensmith also scored for the Cavaliers.
Latrobe 8, Connellsville 1 – Annalyse Bauer led with four goals, Emerson Shine followed with two and Geli Dent and Jenny Hegedus added a goal apiece to lead Latrobe (4-5) to a nonsection win over Connellsville (3-6-1).
McKeesport 7, East Allegheny 3 – Dannah Sebelia had a hat trick, Gavbriella Graham had two goals and Eleanor Homer and Ella Kristen added a goal apiece to lead McKeesport (2-5) to a nonsection win over East Allegheny (0-7).
Mt. Pleasant 1, Shady Side Academy 0 – Izzy Overly scored the winning goal off a Morgan Gesinski corner kick and Laurel Rummel recorded the shutout as Mt. Pleasant (8-2-1) defeated Shady Side Academy (3-6) in a nonsection match.
Mt. Lebanon 1, Penn-Trafford 0 – Lucy Pryor scored the winning goal to send Mt. Lebanon (9-2) to a nonsection win over Penn-Trafford (5-4-1).
Penn Hills 5, Gateway 0 – Peyton Kyper and Julia Beam netted two goals apiece and Genevieve Valdengo also scored as Penn Hills (2-7, 1-5) defeated Gateway (2-7, 1-5) in a Section 1-3A game shortened by bad weather.
Pine-Richland 1, Mars 0 – Lily DeJesus scored the game-winning goal in the second half, assisted by Lily Rosenwasser, and Amelia Van Meter preserved the shutout to lift Pine-Richland (9-1-1) to a nonsection win over Mars (7-3).
Riverview 8, Greensburg Central Catholic 0 – Mary Quinlan had a hat trick and Hannah Hudack added two goals to lead Riverview (6-1, 5-1) to a Section 4-A win over Greensburg Central Catholic (1-4, 1-4). Mia Murphy, Juliette Brun and Catie Hoolahan added a goal apiece for the Raiders.
South Park 8, Charleroi 0 – Ari Beck had four goals and Avery Rispoli, Mady Serechin, Reese Recker and Lily Smith also scored to lead South Park (11-0, 7-0) past Charleroi (0-9, 0-7) in a Section 1-2A game shortened by bad weather.
West Allegheny 5, Bethel Park 0 – Maddy Pons had a hat trick, Mariana Parilli had two goals and Ella Smith added one to lead West Allegheny (6-5, 5-2) past Bethel Park (1-10, 1-6) in a Section 2-3A win.
Boys soccer
Belle Vernon 2, Ringgold 1 (OT) – Chris Showman delivered the overtime winner and added an assist and Landon Bell also scored to lead Belle Vernon (6-5-1) to a nonsection win. Michael Stasko scored the tying goal in the last minute of regulation for Ringgold (4-5).
Chartiers-Houston 5, Carlynton 1 – Jhersson Cruz had a hat trick and Ashton Kennedy added two goals to lead Chartiers-Houston (6-4) to a nonsection win over Carlynton (0-8-2).
Hempfield 4, Southmoreland 0 – Braden Crowe scored twice and Anton Weidinger and Sawyer Leuthold also had goals for Hempfield (3-7) in a nonsection win over Southmoreland (4-6).
Highlands 8, Carrick 0 – Ryan Maloney scored four goals, including the 50th of his career, to lead Highlands (4-3-1) to a nonsection win. Brady Celko added two goals and two assists, Dean Besterman dished out two assists and Jerid Kaminski and Jackson Babinsack also scored for the Golden Rams.
Laurel Highlands 4, Connellsville 3 – Jack Narin and Cole Radcliffe each had a goal and an assist and Matt Kolencick and Roman George also scored to help Laurel Highlands (7-3) to a nonsection win over Connellsville (2-9-1).
Seneca Valley 3, Butler 0 – Jacob Prex had a goal and an assist, Connor Mackrell and Michael Pokrzywinski also scored and Chase Good recorded the shutout as Seneca Valley (10-1, 5-1) beat Butler (4-6, 1-5) in Section 3-4A.
Shady Side Academy 4, Freeport 2 – Zach Powers netted a pair of goals and Mark Bence and Paul Benec also scored to help Shady Side Academy (6-4, 6-3) to a Section 1-2A victory. Spencer Valasek scored twice for Freeport (6-4-1, 3-4-1).
Field hockey
Fox Chapel 2, Penn-Trafford 0 – Melanie Pietz had a goal and an assist and Emily Kintner also scored for Fox Chapel (7-2, 5-2) in a Class 2A win over Penn-Trafford (2-6, 1-5).
Latrobe 5, Norwin 1 – Julia Macey had two goals and an assist, Karter Kubistek also scored twice and Nina Scalise had a goal and an assist as Latrobe (4-4) defeated Norwin (1-7) in a nonsection match.
Girls volleyball
Canon-McMillan 3, Norwin 1 – Natalie Carr had 23 kills, 14 digs and three aces to lead Canon-McMillan (6-1) to a nonsection win over Norwin (4-6). Journee Scott and Katie Wing each added 12 kills, Aurora Shirdon had 12 digs and Carsen Brown dished out 25 assists for the Big Macs.
Geibel Catholic 3, Turkeyfoot Valley 0 – Mallory Clemmer led with 13 digs, eight aces and seven kills and Nolace Petrosky added 11 kills for Geibel Catholic (2-8) in a nonsection win over Turkeyfoot (0-7).
Greensburg Salem 3, Laurel Highlands 0 – Grace Hayden had nine kills and Bella Dinkel dished out 25 assists to lead Greensburg Salem (8-0) to a nonsection victory. Diondra Brown had eight kills and five blocks and Sara Reed had 14 assists and 21 digs for Laurel Highlands (5-3).
South Allegheny 3, Serra Catholic 0 – Ally Chizmar had 11 kills and three aces, Ava Brown finished with six kills and two blocks and Regan McBeth had nine kills to power South Allegheny (8-3) to a nonsection win over Serra Catholic (6-4).
