Zach Nash scored a pair of goals to lead North Allegheny to a 2-1 victory over North Hills (8-5, 3-3) in Section 3-4A boys soccer victory Thursday. Nathan Katari and Lucas Henderson set up goals for the Tigers (9-2-1, 5-1).

Allderdice 6, West Mifflin 1 – Ethan Voight-Cherna collected two goals and an assist, Jacek Piekut also scored twice and Aidan Thomas had a goal and an assist for Allderdice (7-2-1, 5-1-1) in a Section 3-3A win over West Mifflin (2-7, 2-6).

Beaver County Christian 6, South Side 0 – Rocco DeSarbo had two goals and an assist, Zach Stephens also scored twice and Liam Birchler collected a goal and three assists to lead Beaver County Christian (8-3, 4-2) past South Side (2-9, 0-6) in Section 1-A. Eli Bosch also scored.

Bentworth 7, Greensburg Central Catholic 1 – Ryan Moessner had a hat trick and Adam Moessner added two goals for Bentworth (11-0, 5-0) in a Section 2-A win. Grant Brewer scored for Greensburg Central Catholic (3-4-1, 3-2).

Burrell 8, Valley 1 – Marian Sirota scored two goals and Brayden Vicks, Billy Kowalkowski, Parker Pruitt, Caden Adams, Ethan Rivera and Ashton Anderson also scored to lead Burrell (6-5, 6-3) past Valley (0-10, 0-8) in a Section 1-2A win.

Canon-McMillan 5, Woodland Hills 1 – Adam Kuchera had a pair of goals and an assist and Gavin Patterson added a goal and an assist for Canon-McMillan (6-3-1, 3-3) in a Section 2-4A victory over Woodland Hills (4-6, 1-5). Roman Pasquarelli and Drake Saxon also scored for the Big Macs.

Carlynton 4, Brentwood 3 – Hamza Alezzo scored all four goals for Carlynton (9-3, 5-1) in a Section 3-A win. Connor Hart, Mateo Carrasco, Sajjad Al Nawadi and Austin Naman each had an assist for the Cougars. Carlso Duran scored twice and Evan Mingle netted a goal for Brentwood (4-6, 1-5).

Central Valley 1, Keystone Oaks 0 – Owen Shearer scored the winning goal and Luke Serych preserved the shutout for Central Valley (11-1, 9-1) in a Section 2-2A win over Keystone Oaks (4-5-1, 4-5-1).

Chartiers Valley 5, Blackhawk 1 – John Krug had a pair of goals and Xavier Mwaura, Pat Jurisic and Jonah Mastren-Williams also scored for Chartiers Valley (6-4, 5-2) in a Section 4-3A victory over Blackhawk (0-8-1, 0-7-1).

Deer Lakes 2, Shady Side Academy 1 – Collin Rodgers had a goal and an assist, Cuyler Crim added a goal and Keegan Landsberg tallied an assist as Deer Lakes (9-2-1, 7-1) won a matchup of top teams in Section 1-2A. Mark Bence scored for Shady Side Academy (6-4-1, 5-3-1).

East Allegheny 2, Steel Valley 0 – Colin Goldstein had a goal and an assist, Kaedan Sabol also scored and Dustin Harrier preserved the shutout for East Allegheny (3-8, 1-8) in a Section 3-2A win over Steel Valley (2-9, 2-7).

Freeport 10, Leechburg 1 – Angelo Porco had a hat trick to lead Freeport (5-5-2, 3-4-2) to a Section 1-2A win. Jordan Mull scored for Leechburg (1-10, 1-7).

Gateway 4, Penn Hills 0 – James LoCoco had a goal and two assists and Nick LoCoco, Troy Boden and Seangkye Park added a goal apiece for Gateway (7-4, 4-2) in a Section 1-4A win over Penn Hills (2-10, 0-6).

Hampton 2, Obama Academy 0 – Matteo Sciulli and Jake Killian scored and Gavin Guinn recorded the shutout to lift Hampton (6-1-3, 4-1-3) past Obama Academy (3-7, 1-7) in Section 1-3A.

Indiana 5, Knoch 0 – Tim Birch had two goals and Micah Weigner, Tyler Hunter and Russell Crane also scored to lead Indiana (11-1, 8-1) past Knoch (5-8, 4-5) in Section 1-3A.

Latrobe 12, Uniontown 1 – Roman and Warren Agostoni scored five goals apiece and Nolan Thomas and Levi Porvaznik each added a goal to lead Latrobe (8-3, 7-1) past Uniontown (2-8, 0-8) in Section 3-3A.

Mars 3, Kiski Area 0 – Logan Coone scored two goals and Frank Kenzovich added another as Mars (8-1-3, 6-1-2) shut out Kiski Area (0-11, 0-9) in Section 1-3A. Luke Hagen kept the clean sheet for the Fightin’ Planets.

Montour 1, Baldwin 0 – Dominic Passaro scored, with an assist from Anthony Dalessandri, to lead Montour (7-5, 5-2) past Baldwin (0-10-1, 0-7-1) in Section 4-3A.

Moon 7, Ambridge 2 – Luiz Silva had two goals and an assist, Fin Dengel added a goal and a pair of assists, and Aedan Costa tallied a goal and an assist to lead Moon (12-0, 7-0) past Ambridge (2-5, 2-5) in Section 4-3A. Hayden Dunn, Zech Balbach and Stephen Carvajal each added a goal for the Tigers.

Neshannock 1, Freedom 1 (OT) – Zayden Herb scored for Neshannock (7-3-1, 2-3-1) in a Section 1-A draw with Freedom (5-3-1, 4-1-1).

Peters Township 5, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Anthony Maiello, Colin Froelich, Jeven Kelly, Cam Glass and Alex Parise scored for Peters Township (10-1-1, 6-0) in a Section 2-4A win over Mt. Lebanon (7-5, 3-3).

Plum 4, Central Catholic 0 – Gage Adinolfi had two goals, Kent Holmes and Fedgy Fertil also scored and Brady McLaughlin recorded the shutout for Plum (10-0-2, 6-0) in a section 1-4A win over Central Catholic (2-8-1, 2-4).

Ringgold 2, Laurel Highlands 0 – Aidyn Whaley and Cody Scheponik each scored a goal to lead Ringgold (7-4-1, 6-2-1) past Laurel Highlands (4-6-1, 3-6) in Section 2-3A.

Riverview 3, Trinity Christian 2 – Chris O’Toole scored the game-winning goal at the end of a back-and-forth first half to lead Riverview (5-4, 3-3) to a Section 4-A victory over Trinity Christian (7-3-1, 4-2-1). Carter Loughren and Eben Ulrich scored to give the Raiders a pair of one-goal lead. Luke Kost answered twice for Trinity Christian.

Seneca Valley 4, Butler 1 – Owen Eastgate and Zach Garma each scored a pair of goals to power Seneca Valley (7-4, 3-3) past Butler (2-8-1, 0-6) in Section 3-4A.

Seton LaSalle 2, Ligonier Valley 1 – Darius Norkevicus scored both goals for Seton LaSalle (8-3, 7-2) in a Section 3-2A win over Ligonier Valley (6-6, 3-6).

Southmoreland 3, Greensburg Salem 0 – Jack Smith led Southmoreland (8-4, 6-2) with two goals and Hunter Ryan added one in a Section 4-2A win over Greensburg Salem (1-10, 1-8).

Thomas Jefferson 2, Bethel Park 1 – Evan Plson and Jake Shoemaker each scored a goal and Brayden Miller had an assist as Thomas Jefferson (7-1-2, 6-1-2) beat Bethel Park (7-3, 7-2) in Section 2-3A. Max LeMessurier scored for the Black Hawks.

Upper St. Clair 8, Connellsville 0 – Tyler Newton and Andrew Fulton each scored two goals to power Upper St. Clair (7-3-1, 5-1) to a Section 2-4A shutout win over Connellsville (2-10, 0-6). Shresht Rawat, Ben Murtough, Liam Burlovic and Nikita Polstyanko added a goal apiece for the Panthers.

Girls soccer

Carlynton 4, South Side 0 – Gigi Choate scored two goals, Riley Mauro netted a goal and had two assists and Sophia O’Brien added a goal as Carlynton (9-3) blanked South Side (0-8) in a nonsection match.

Central Valley 7, Mohawk 0 – Aubrey Grater scored four goals and Nina Guandolo added three to lead Central Valley (4-6) past Mohawks (4-5) in a nonsection match.

Fox Chapel 1, Norwin 0 – Emily McKee scored her 20th goal of the season to lead Fox Chapel (11-0-1) past Norwin (6-6-1) in a nonsection win.

Keystone Oaks 4, Steel Valley 2 – Aly Simon scored a pair of goals, Mackenzie Muick converted a penalty kick and had an assist and Nevaeh Hamilton tallied a goal as Keystone Oaks (8-6, 6-3) defeated Steel Valley (4-6, 3-5) in Section 1-2A.

Southmoreland 8, Uniontown 3 – Addy Jordan recorded a hat trick and Megan Mehall added a pair of goals to lead Southmoreland (8-4, 5-2) to a nonsection win against Uniontown (3-7, 1-6). Mylee Street, Aubrey Seder and Gia Vandyke each scored a goal for the Scotties. Allison Novak scored twice for the Red Raiders.

West Allegheny 3, Upper St. Clair 2 – Chloe Hart, Mia McCarthy and Madison Pons had a goal and assist apiece to lead West Allegheny (9-2-1) past Upper St. Clair (7-3-2) in a nonsection win.

Yough 3, Hempfield 1 – Gionna Pionka had a pair of goals and Daisy Miller also scored for Yough (8-5) in a nonsection win over Hempfield (3-9).

Football

Allegany (Md.) 26, Albert Gallatin 14 – Jackson Resh scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Allegany (1-3) to a nonconference win. Caleb DeHaven ran for 135 yards and a 40-yard touchdown and Adam Pegg had 82 rushing yards and a 39-yard score for Albert Gallatin (3-3).

Field hockey

Penn-Trafford 1, Upper St. Clair 0 – Brooke Bauer scored on an assist from Giuliana Youngo as Penn-Trafford (6-3, 5-2) prevailed in a Class 2A matchup with Upper St. Clair (0-8, 0-7).

Pine-Richland 5, North Allegheny 0 – Georgia Rottinghaus recorded a hat trick to help Pine-Richland blank North Allegheny in Class 3A.

Girls golf

Peters Township 166, Fox Chapel 190 – Freshman Betty Glyptis made a hole-in-one to lead Peters Township to a nonsection win. Glyptis aced the 144-yard third hole at the Valleybrook CC gold course with a 7-iron.

Girls tennis

Section 1-3A – Franklin Regional’s Michelle Yan, playing this year with Makinzie Marcus, will have a chance to defend her section doubles title. Yan and Marcus defeated Penn-Trafford’s Elle LeJeune and Annabelle Aquino, 7-5, 6-3, in the semifinals. It was an all-Latrobe semifinal in the other half of the bracket with second-seeded Carlin Bukovac and Allison Massaro defeating 11th-seeded Brook Coll and Maria Fetter, 6-1, 6-1. The top four teams advance to the WPIAL tournament in Class 3A.

Section 2-3A – Section singles champ Cassandra Lapina of Pine-Richland added a doubles crown to her trophy case, teaming up with Sonaya Arora to defeat second-seeded Elinor Kim and Adelaide Seigworth of North Hills in the finals, 6-0, 6-0. Lapina and Arora defeated No. 4 Kiera and Evelyn Wise of Moon in the semifinals. Kim and Seigworth beat No. 3 Mia Kaufman and Audrey Zheng of North Allegheny.

Section 3-3A – Teams from Shady Side Academy and Fox Chapel squared off in the championship and consolation finals with the Bulldogs tandem emerging with the win both times. For the section title, top-seeded Brooke Henderson and Alex Merkel of Shady Side Academy beat No. 2 Sienna Siegel and Anna Kintner of Fox Chapel, 6-2, 6-3. For third place, Taylor Shanefelter and Amy Jin defeated Eloise Johnson and Hannah Parker, 6-2, 6-4.

Section 4-3A – Mt. Lebanon juniors Jackie Tang and Michelle Yang will face the senior-freshman duo of Kaitlin Kuczinski and Carly Weber of Chartiers Valley for the section doubles title. Tang and Yang defeated Mya and Leila Hamada of Upper St. Clair in the semifinals, 6-0, 6-3. Kuczinski and Weber beat Upper St. Clair’s Catalina Ramirez and Anna Engleman, 6-3, 6-1.

Section 1-2A – Returning WPIAL doubles finalists Sasha Hoffman of Greensburg Central Catholic, playing this year with Emilia Longhi, advanced to section finals with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Valley’s Sophie Harclerode and Lena Fabian. Second-seeded Ryleigh Drzal and Danica Trainer of Mt. Pleasant also defeated a Valley duo, beating surprise semifinalists Alexandra Thomey and Karrigan Thomey, the 11th seeds, 6-2, 6-2. In Class 2A, the top three teams advance to the WPIAL tournament.

Section 2-2A – Oakland Catholic’s section singles runner-up Mollie Sclichter teamed up with Luciana Easly to win the section doubles title, defeating second-seeded Marann Buckanovich and Fiona Kamin of Winchester Thurston in the finals, 6-1, 6-2. South Park’s Grace Kempton and Reagan Love defeated Winchester Thurston’s Elena Clark and Hanna Albert, 6-1, 6-1, for third place.

Section 3-2A – Top-seeded Brea Kelley and Katie Hardy defeated No. 3 Samantha Falcon and Evie Marche, 6-1, 6-2, in an all-North Catholic final. Indiana’s Eve Kuzneski and Gabby Sharp defeated The Ellis School’s Elena and Elyse Brennan, 6-2, 6-4, for third place.

Section 4-2A – Top-seeded Maddie Arrow and Giada Cappabianco of Neshannock claimed the section doubles title with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Blackhawk’s Lily Ceriani and Emma Derringer.Central Valley’s Paige Phillips and Claire Miloszewski topped Beaver’s Grace Churovia and Hailey Ziegler, 6-0, 6-1, in the third-place match to qualify for WPIALs.

Section 5-2A – The Quaker Valley duo of Kirsten Close and Avery Allan won the section doubles title without dropping a game in three matches, defeating seventh-seeded Allie Swift and Kate Gillespie of Aquinas Academy in the finals. Swift and Gillespie will be joined by teammates Maggie McBride and Lucy Fowler in the WPIAL field. The Aquinas Academy duo defeated Abby Smith and Marriona Kosta of Ambridge, 7-5, 6-0, for third place.

Girls volleyball

Albert Gallatin 3, Uniontown 0 – Leah Myers had 16 kills and Mia Myers produced 26 assists to lead Albert Gallatin (6-5, 3-4) to a sweep of Uniontown (0-10, 0-7) in Section 3-3A.

Beaver 3, Oakland Catholic 0 – Lanie Malobabich had 11 kills, Allie Williams added 10 digs, Aubrey Bumblis produced 24 digs and Zoe Ringer dished out 32 assists as Beaver (8-3) rolled to a nonsection win against Oakland Catholic (3-7).

Canon-McMillan 3, Pine-Richland 0 – Natalie Carr had 15 kills, Sophia Powell added 17 digs while Brooke Peters dished out 18 assists and Carsen Brown had 14 assists as Canon-McMillan (10-0) swept Pine-Richland (7-3) in nonsection play.

Franklin Regional 3, McKeesport 2 – Peyton Snoznik had 32 digs, Carson Burgh produced 14 kills and Maya Speranza followed with 10 kills to power Franklin Regional (4-6, 3-4) over McKeesport (2-7, 0-7) in Section 5-3A.

Frazier 3, Greensburg Central Catholic 1 – Addison Schultz had 17 kills, Allie Monack followed with 13 kills, Addison Hiles had 29 digs and Gracen Hartman doled out 54 assists in a Section 4-1A win for Frazier (7-3, 5-0) over Greensburg Central Catholic (8-2, 3-2).

Hampton 3, Valley 0 – Payton Galietti had 14 digs, nine aces and four kills while Kassidy Thompson had 23 assists to lead Hampton (7-4, 4-2) to a Section 2-3A win over Valley (1-9, 0-6).

Knoch 3, Deer Lakes 0 – Kenzie Kurtz had 11 kills, Karlee Buterbaugh finished with nine kills and 13 digs and Alena Tekely had 19 assists for Knoch (5-6) in a nonsection win against Deer Lakes (3-7).

South Allegheny 3, Carlynton 2 – Regan McBeth had 15 kills and Ally Chizmar followed with 10 kills to lead South Allegheny (11-3, 7-1) to a Section 2-2A win over Carlynton (5-5, 3-5). Alexis Bartung had eight kills and five blocks for the Gladiators.
