Tate Mohney netted his second goal of the game with five second left in the first overtime period to lift Butler to a 3-2 win over Central Catholic (1-2, 0-2) in a Section 1-4A boys soccer game Thursday night.
Landon Mohney also scored for Butler (2-0, 2-0).
North Allegheny 2, Seneca Valley 1 (OT) — Will Cinker scored in overtime to carry No. 1 North Allegheny (3-0, 2-0) to a Section 1-4A victory.
Peters Township 2, Mt. Lebanon 0 — Brian Bruzdewicz and James Argent were credited with goals as No. 2 Peters Township (2-2, 1-1) won in Section 2-4A.
Upper St. Clair 1, Bethel Park 0 (OT) — Mitch Friday scored on an assist from Colin Sibley as Upper St. Clair (2-1, 2-0) won in Section 2-4A.
Chartiers Valley 2, West Mifflin 1 — Anthony Chiurazzi scored the game-winner for Chartiers Valley (1-2-1, 1-0-1) in a Section 4-3A game.
Elizabeth Forward 6, McGuffey 0 — Ethan Bowser and Donovan Woytsek each score twice, and Bowser had three assists to guide Elizabeth Forward (2-0, 2-0) to a Section 1-2A win.
North Catholic 8, Hopewell 0 — Ryan Augustine had three goals to lead No. 2 North Catholic (3-0, 2-0) to a Section 4-2A win.
Serra Catholic 5, Trinity Christian 1 — Joey Folino scored three times and had an assist as Serra Catholic (1-0, 1-0) rolled to a Section 2-A win.
Latrobe 3, Penn-Trafford 2 (OT) — A minute into overtime, Nolan Agostoni drilled a shot from 25 yards out into the upper-left corner to lift the Wildcats to a victory over Penn-Trafford (1-2, 1-1).
Penn-Trafford had tied the game with just nine seconds left in regulation.
Agostoni scored twice and Luca Diianni also scored for Latrobe (2-0, 2-0).
Franklin Regional 3, South Fayette 0 — Justin LeDonne, Austin Kranick and Anthony DiFalco scored to guide No. 2 Franklin Regional (3-0, 2-0) to a Section 4-3A victory.
Hempfield 2, Woodland Hills 1 — Zach Zanek scored two goals, including the game-winner with 23 minutes remaining to lead Hempfield (1-2, 1-1) to a Section 2-4A victory. Zanek took a pass from Casey Leonard and scored on a breakaway.
Norwin 4, Plum 3 — Carter Breen scored three times and Zach Ullum also scored as Norwin (3-1, 2-0) won a Section 3-4A contest. Breen buried a penalty kick with eight minutes left to seal the win.
Southmoreland 6, Washington 0 — Brett Glowacki and Brendan Moore each had two goals, and Noah Kinter had a goal and two assists to lift Southmoreland (1-1, 1-1) to a Section 2-3A win.
Greensburg Salem 3, Ringgold 2 — The Golden Lions moved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in Section 3-3A with a victory.
Derry 4, Valley 0 — Tony Ditonto, Lucas Snyder (2) and Eddie Darbous scored, and Robert Boyer earned the shutout as Derry (1-1, 1-1) won in Section 2-2A.
Mt. Pleasant 6, Freeport 1 — Brad Tait had three goals and two assists to help No. 3 Mt. Pleasant (1-0, 1-0) cruise to a Section 2-2A victory. Lucas Toohey had two goals and an assist and Sam Knapper added a goal and assist for the Vikings.
Greensburg CC 7, St. Joseph 2 — Luke Mort had two goals and now has 101 for his career as No. 3 Greensburg Central Catholic (1-0, 1-0) won in Section 2-A.
Kiski Area 7, Armstrong 1 — Seven players scored as Kiski Area coasted to a Section 1-AAA victory.
Jake Kalik, Ronnie Coleman, Campbell Curry, Owen Zimmerman, Ross Ziemianski, Tyler Ciuca and Nicholas Paes found the back of the net for the Cavaliers (1-1, 1-1), who scored 21 goals in 17 games last season. Greg Paes assisted on four of the markers.
Camden Buhite scored for Armstrong (0-3, 0-2).
Deer Lakes 2, Shady Side Academy 2 — Devin Murray and Ryan Butler scored for the Lancers (3-0-1, 1-0-1) before defending WPIAL champion Shady Side Academy (1-0-1, 1-0-1) rallied for a tie in Section 2-AA play thanks to two goals in a three-minute span.
Springdale 3, Vincentian Academy 0 — Matt Taliani, Ephraim Duku and Mike Mitchell scored a goal apiece, and Mike Zolnierczyk made six saves to post his third consecutive shutout for Class A No. 5 Springdale (3-0, 2-0) in a Section 1 win at Vincentian Academy (0-2, 0-2). Zolnierczyk and Hunter Schussman recorded assists for the Dynamos.
Fox Chapel 7, Shaler 0 — Zane Ingram had a hat trick to lead Fox Chapel (2-2, 1-1) to a Section 1-AAAA win over Shaler (0-3, 0-2). Alex Marotte, Tommy Psai, Charlie Smith and Ty Welty had a goal apiece for the Foxes.
Knoch 1, North Hills 1 — Mark Ciora scored midway through the second half to give Knoch (0-2-2, 0-1-1) a Section 1-AAA draw with North Hills (0-1-1, 0-1-1).
Girls volleyball
Leechburg 3, Springdale 0 — Brenna Callahan recorded eight kills, four digs and 10 aces in Leechburg’s Section 4-A victory over Springdale. Maddie Ancosky added four kills, nine digs, one ace and one assist. Gracie Reinke recorded six kills, five digs and eight aces, and Sami Bigenho had nine assists and four digs for Leechburg (2-0, 2-0).
Deer Lakes 3, Valley 0 — Kaylee Sciubba recorded six kills and five aces to help Deer Lakes (1-1, 1-1) sweep Valley (0-1, 0-1) in a Section 5-AA win. Renee Robson had 14 assists, and Lydia Fink added six kills and eight digs for the Lancers.
Freeport 3, Derry 0 — Ally DeJidas recorded a team-high 16 kills and added 14 digs as No. 1 Freeport (1-1, 1-0) swept Derry in a Section 5-AA match. Lauren Lampus added eight kills and nine digs, and Sarah Hettich had three kills and seven blocks.
Knoch 3, Hampton 0 — Kennedy Christy recorded 12 kills and 10 service points in No. 1 Knoch’s Section 4-AAA win over Hampton. Skylar Burkett recorded 10 kills, and Hannah Rowe added nine kills for Knoch (2-0, 2-0).
