High school roundup: Upper St. Clair boys edge Bethel Park in overtime

Zach Shoemaker scored off a free kick from near midfield to lead Upper St. Clair to a 3-2 overtime victory over rival Bethel Park in a Section 2-AAAA boys soccer game Thursday night.

Ben Burlovic scored twice for the Panthers (1-2-1, 1-1).

Bethel Park fell to 3-3-1 overall and 0-2 in section play.

Butler 2, Pine-Richland 1 (2OT) — Justin Stewart scored on a header from Tate Mohney's set piece in double overtime to give Butler (3-1, 2-0) a win in Section 1-AAAA. It was Mohney's second goal of the game.

North Allegheny 2, Shaler 0 — Josh Luchini and Sam Buirgi each scored while Grant Glorioso recorded the shutout for North Allegheny (5-2, 2-0) in a Section 1-AAAA win.

Seneca Valley 5, North Hills 1 — Caleb Cekella had two goals, and Seth Winters, Louis Newell and Jackson Wotus also scored as No. 4 Seneca Valley (2-1-1, 1-1) rolled to a Section 1-AAAA win.

Canon-McMillan 5, Baldwin 1 — Brandon Byer, Jonah Moore, Chris Viveros, Kyle Katreeb and Tommy Samosky scored as Canon-McMillan (5-0, 2-0) won in Section 2-AAAA.

Peters Township 3, Mt. Lebanon 0 — Logan Brinsky scored twice and Luke Kelly had two assists as No. 1 Peters Township (5-0-1, 2-0) tallied a Section 2-AAAA win.

Central Catholic 2, Plum 1 — Larry Cersessimo and Dan Schearer scored to lead Central Catholic (2-2-2, 2-0-1) to a win in Section 3-AAAA.

Chartiers Valley 5, West Mifflin 1 — Josh DiMatteo and Baxter Eckenrode each scored twice to guide No. 4 Chartiers Valley (4-2, 2-0) to a win in Section 4-AAA.

Keystone Oaks 1, Obama Academy 0 — Rutger Randall netted the lone goal as No. 5 Keystone Oaks (6-0, 3-0) won a Section 1-AA contest.

Waynesburg 2, McGuffey 0 — Gavin Benson netted two goals as Waynesburg (3-3, 2-1) won a Section 3-AA contest.

Trinity Christian 3, St. Joseph 2 — Jacob Riviere , Mitchell McGuire and Ben Blackburn each scored as Trinity Christian (4-1, 2-1) won in Section 2-A.

Boys golf

Section 6-AAA qualifier — Thomas Jefferson's Adam Rossi shot 4-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors at the Section 6-AAA qualifier at South Hills Country Club. Mt. Lebanon's Cory Koval and Sheamus Cochran each shot the target score of 82 and also advanced to the WPIAL semifinals.

Girls golf

MAC championships — Mars' Natalie Welsh shot 1-under-par 71 to capture the title at the MAC girls golf championships at Black Hawk Golf Course. Her score helped the Planets finish first, a stroke ahead of Central Valley, 247-248. Moon's Rhianna Firmstone shot 75, and Kiara Porter from Central Valley shot 76 to finish second and third, respectively.
