Highway to Heinz – WPIAL Football Playoff Picture

All 64 district high school football playoff berths have been determined, and only one conference is still up in the air going into the final day of the regular season on Saturday. The brackets are unveiled Monday night in all four classification as the Highway to Heinz opens up for First Round action next weekend. Here is the nearly built WPIAL football playoff puzzle picutre through Friday night of Week Nine.

Top four teams from each conference clinch a playoff spot. Records in parenthesis are section records only.

WPIAL CLASS AAAA Big East Conference:

 WPIAL CLASS AAAA Northern Seven Conference:

• North Allegheny (6-0) has clinched the conference title 
   
• Erie McDowell (4-2) has clinched a playoff spot and is #2 based on head-to-head tiebreaker over Seneca Valley
   
• Seneca Valley (4-2) has clinched a playoff spot and is #3
   
• Shaler (3-3) has clinched a playoff spot and is #4 

WPIAL CLASS AAAA Great Southern Conference:

WPIAL CLASS AAA Parkway Conference:

• Central Valley (7-0) has clinched the conference title 
   
• Montour (5-2) has clinched a playoff spot and is #2
   
• Hopewell (4-3) has clinched a playoff spot and is #3 after finishing in a three-way tie for thierd place and winning out with more gardner points based than West Allegheny and New Castle based on their win over Montour
   
• West Allegheny (4-3) has clinched a playoff spot and is #4 based on head-to-head tiebreaker over New Castle after both lost out to Hopewell for third place

WPIAL CLASS AAA Big Eight Conference:

• West MIfflin (6-1) has clinched a playoff spot and a share of the conference title plus the #1 seed based on head-to-head with Thomas Jefferson
   
• Thomas Jefferson (6-1) has clinched a playoff spot and a share of the conference title and is the #2 seed based on head-to-head with West Mifflin
   
• Chartiers Valley (4-3) has clinched a playoff spot and is #3 based on head-to-head tiebreaker with both Belle Vernon and Trinity
   
• Belle Vernon (4-3) has clinched a playoff spot and is #4 based on head-to-head tiebreaker with Trinity
