The Burrell and Plum hockey clubs will come together Friday at Pittsburgh Ice Arena for a hockey scrimmage to benefit the family of fallen New Kensington police officer Brian Shaw, shot and killed in the line of duty Nov. 17.
The on-ice action will begin at 8:30 p.m. in connection with a number of fundraising activities at the arena.
βIt is such an important cause, and we as an organization wanted to do whatever we could to help the family and remember (Brian's) life,β Burrell coach Max Rickard said.
In addition to the game, the Burrell Hockey Booster Club will be accepting donations, there will be 50/50 raffles, a chuck-a-puck, a silent auction of items from the Penguins and local businesses and games for kids.
Donations of services, merchandise or gift cards still are being accepted to be used in the silent and Chinese auctions.
To make a donation, contact Dave Schueler at schueler209@comcast.net or 724-681-6560 or Dave Burkett at daveburkett8484@gmail.com or 412-295-6984.
