Hometown Softball Program Salute – BALDWIN HIGHLANDERS

With one more year of experience, the young Baldwin Softball team looks to turn up in 2014. Lead by senior captain Melissa Paterni, Baldwin will compete and look for another run at the WPIAL championship.
The defense is anchored with five new starters to their position; Ashley Brady has moved from 2nd to short stop, Charlotte Nieman from 3rd to catcher, freshman Katie Knezevich will start left field. The freshmen duo of Samantha Wampler and Alexis Palermo will see time at 3rd base, and sophomore’s Jaimie Schleicher and Maddie Becker will start at 2nd base. The rest of the defense rounds out with sophomore Ana Hale splitting time with Jaimie Schleicher on the mound, Melissa Paterni at 1st base, sophomore Mallory O’Brien in centerfield, and senior Breanna Meyer in right field.
Other key players who will see playing time are junior captain Katie Higgins, junior Alexa Vona, sophomore’s Barb Spegar and Emma Ranft. The rest of the roster includes: Jordan Bogaski, Mariah Pacella, Shawdaea Hatch, and Sophia Furlotti.
