In Hometown Volleyball action the Avonworth Antelopes defeat the Quaker Valley Quakers 3-2 in a back and forth match. Game scores were 25-12, 25-22, 14-25, 24-26, and 16-14.

It was a non conference match up, and both teams had clinched playoff berths. QV in AA, and Avonworth in single A. This match was a tune up for the playoffs. The Quakers were on a one game losing streak while the Antelopes had lost three straight, two of them section games.

The first game was all Avonworth as the girls were firing on all cylinders. The Lopes never trailed and took a close 14-10 game to 23-10 with great serving by Abby Oberdick and Ericka Thomas. QV had all sorts of problems on service receive and Avonworth won 25-12.

In game two QV stepped up and played much better, the mistakes were fewer for both teams and QV led early 1-0. This game would be tied twelve times. The Quakers would tie four times early but never lead until 11-10. The Lopes would take leads each of the next three times, but QV would  always answer and it remained tied at 13-13 until Avonworth took control and led 16-14. QV wouldn't go away and would step up and lead 3 more times, the last at 22-21. But the Antelopes ended with a flourish scoring the last 4 points, one on an ace by Katie Pendrak and would get solid play from SR outside hitter Olivia London and win 25-22 to go up 2-0 in the match.

Game three was QV's turn to dominate as Avonworth made numerous mental errors and did not play well. QV took advantage and rolled to a 25-14 win to climb back in the match at 2-1.

Game four swung back to the Antelopes, though they trailed early but would go up 7-6. From there they would score 17 of the next 27 points to go up 24-16. QV would then go on a roll and get ten straight points off service and win 26-24. Both teams played inconsistent, at times you would see great defense and strong offensive,  and at the same time, both made numerous defensive errors in a back and forth battle that saw the match tied at 2-2.

In game five it looked like the Antelopes would prevail as they led early 9-2. Freshman setter Whitney Brown was fantastic as her play set up Oberdick, London, and Pendrak. The Quakers would not go away easily as they went on a 12-4 run to take the lead at 14-13 and served for the match win. However the Lopes survived and would score the last three points and win 16-14 and the match at 3-2.

QV falls to 8-3 overall on the year, and Avonworth improves to 11-5 overall. The Antelopes wind up their regular season at Eden Christian Tuesday, then home to Northgate Thursday.
