The number one team in the MSA Sports Class AA Volleyball rankings showed up to impress in their first appearance as a hometown volleyball team on the MSA Sports Network. Freeport (7-0) jumped out to an early lead leaning on Senior Alexis Schrecengost for her power at the net and Sophomore Zoe Pawlak at the net and service line. Whether it was Pawlak's jump serve or a combination her and Schrecengost at the net in game one Seton-La Salle (5-1) had no answer. Freeport was able to set up their offense and win game one with a score of 25-19.

Seton-La Salle seemed to be ready in game two when they were up by 5 points mid way through the set leaning on their ability to gain and keep serve and it looked like we were going to have an extended match. Freeport however undaunted mounted a come back to knot it up at 19. Freeport continued to assert itself on the shoulders of Pawlak to take game 2 with a final of 25-21.

In game 3 Freeport got down early and again until late in the set seemed to be reeling a little. La-Salle this time maxed their lead to 3 points but it really seemed this might be the set they could hang their hat on and take it to an extended game. Seniors Tia and Toni Torchia gave the Rebels a boost they needed getting their fair share of kills down the line. Both outside hitters seemed to be on their game but Freeport's experience took over to knot it at 23 in the last game. Freeport took game 3 with a final of 25-23 sweeping the Rebels 3-0.

Freeport coach Tom Phillips was very appreciative of his girls' effort and is happy where his team sits at 7-0 atop WPIAL AA Section 4 ahead of teams like Knoch and Mars. They also are over a major upset in the post season last year ducking out in the quarterfinals. Schrecengost and senior Libero Brittany Bianco praised their teammates on learning from mistakes made each game and not getting down on any one player. According to both that was a major reason for their early exit last year and they don't want it to be again this year.
