Greg Hutcherson resigned Monday as boys basketball coach at Armstrong High School.
Hutcherson, 34, coached four years at Ford City before a merger between that school and rival Kittanning formed Armstrong. He coached the River Hawks there for three seasons and finished with a record of 59-98 overall with a playoff win.
Armstrong finished 8-15 this season and lost to McKeesport in the WPIAL Class 5A first round.
Hutcherson, a former Kiski Area three-sport athlete who played college football at Indiana State and Bowling Green, wants to spend more time with his young family and focus more on his business ventures.
Hutcherson runs the Top Level AAU program and Keystone Cleaning Services.
“This had to be one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make,” he said on social media posts. “But if I can't put 110 percent into my coaching, then I refuse to do it. Armstrong has been such a great place to coach and the administration, fans, parents and players treated me as if I was a king.”
