All six WPIAL football championships will be televised next month on WPCW, a sister station of KDKA-TV known as Pittsburgh’s CW.

KDKA Sports made the announcement Wednesday. The WPIAL had sought a new broadcast partner for its championship after its contract with AT&T SportsNet expired.

“We’re very pleased,” WPIAL executive director Tim O’Malley said. “It brings exposure to these kids that are going to celebrate their accomplishments in the six championship games. The fact that they’re able to televise all six is something we’re very, very happy about.”

The Class 6A, 4A, 3A and A finals are Nov. 17 at Heinz Field. The Class 5A final is Nov. 23 at Norwin. The Class 2A final is Nov. 24 at Robert Morris.

All six football finals will be televised on WPCW. Two of the Heinz Field championship games will be simulcast on KDKA.

The TribLive High School Sports Network owns the streaming rights to all WPIAL playoff games. It will provide both video and audio streaming coverage for the WPIAL playoffs through the semifinals.

The TRIB HSSN will be the audio streaming home for all six WPIAL championship games in 2018.

The network will kick off its playoff coverage at 7 p.m. Monday with the live announcement of the WPIAL football playoff pairings for all six classes.

It will also provide video and audio coverage of all eight WPIAL soccer championships Nov. 1-3.
