The Kiski School announced Tuesday that Aaron Smetanka is the school’s new football coach.
Smetanka previously coached at Saint Vincent College and Greensburg Central Catholic.
Kiski School is a Westmoreland County private school located in Saltsburg.
Smetanka took over as coach at Saint Vincent on Dec. 5, 2018. His six-year record was 19-36. The Bearcats made the ECAS James Lynch Bowl in 2021. He was 10-10 in two seasons at GCC.
Smetanka was a standout quarterback at Saint Vincent. He attended North Catholic and Robert Morris before transferring to Saint Vincent.
After graduating from Saint Vincent, Smetanka played professional football in the Continental Indoor Football League for two seasons, winning two league championships and earning recognition as the league’s Most Valuable Offensive Player.
“Blessed to get started!” Smetanka said on X. “Thank you God for this incredible opportunity. Excited to work with the talented student-athletes, coaching staff, faculty, administration, and community at The Kiski School!”
Smetanka said his main mission is to build a team that shows discipline, teamwork and integrity — both on and off the field. He said he’s excited to continue the Cougar legacy while finding new opportunities for the team’s growth and success.
