Ligonier Valley announces 2025 Hall of Fame class

Ligonier Valley rang in the new year by announcing its athletics hall of fame class.
The class includes six athletes, two coaches, a legacy selection, a contributor and a team.
The hall of fame includes Ligonier, Laurel Valley and Ligonier Valley high schools. Ligonier and Laurel Valley merged in 1966.
The athletes are:
• Willard “Bud” Boyd (Class of 1952), Ligonier football
• Chelsea Brant, (2003), Ligonier Valley swimming/volleyball
• Emily Daugherty (2010), Ligonier Valley soccer/basketball
• Linda Derk (1983), Ligonier Valley basketball/softball
• Dave Gregory (1972), Laurel Valley basketball
• Rick McLeary (1975), Ligonier basketball
Coaching inductees, both still active in their roles, are Mark Zimmerman (softball) and Roger Beitel (football), both of whom have led their programs for 20-plus years.
The team to be honored is the 1984 Ligonier Valley football squad led by coach JD Jones.
Bert Toy is the contributor for his efforts in Laurel Valley football, softball and golf, and the legacy inductee is Chuck Hurt, who had a “long-lasting impact” in the school district.
The induction ceremony will be April 13 at The Barn in Ligonier.
Tickets ($60) must be purchased by check made payable to LVSD, marked “Hall of Fame tix” and sent via the U.S. Postal Service to Ligonier Valley High School.
Tickets must be purchased by March 20.
