Ligonier Valley boys basketball coach Hepner resigns

Ligonier Valley athletic director Corey Turcheck said Wednesday that boys basketball coach Todd Hepner resigned after going 73-45 in five seasons.

Turcheck said the school board will accept his resignation at the May meeting. Then, the open position will be posted within the school district.

Ligonier Valley won the PIAA District 6 Class 3A title this season and finished with a 21-5 record. The Rams also were the Heritage Conference champions.

They lost to Lancaster Mennonite in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.

“Todd said it was time to move on and spend more time with his family,” Turcheck said. “He said it was a tough decision.”

The Rams return their top two players — junior center Marrek Paola and sophomore guard Michael Marinchak.
