Forecasts of up to a foot of snow in the Altoona area have forced the PIAA District 6 football committee to move the Class 2A championship from Friday to Saturday at Mansion Park Stadium.
The time will stay the same, 7 p.m.
Ligonier Valley (12-0) will face Richland (12-0) for the title. Ligonier Valley has won back-to-back Class 2A titles.
The schedule change will give Ligonier Valley an extra day to prepare for high-powered Richland. Both teams average more than 45 points per game.
Because Ligonier Valley canceled school Thursday, the team will hold a volunteer practice at Weller Field.
“Because we played on Saturday, our preparation was cut short,” Beitel said. “This will benefit us.”
PIAA District 6 chairman Ralph Cecere said that game is the only change right now. He hinted things could change for a pair of Class A semifinals.
United and Northern Cambria are scheduled to play at 7 p.m. Friday, and Juniata Valley will host Bishop Guilfoyle at 7 p.m. Saturday.
