Moon senior goalkeeper Serayah Leech was selected to play in the 11th annual Girls’ Soccer High School All-American Game, set for Dec. 9 at Wando High School in Charleston, S.C.
Moon’s Bill Pfeifer was already slated to coach the East team so he will join Leech in the prestigious event.
Leech, who has 52 career shutouts in three seasons, is an IUP commit. She will join 43 other top senior players from across the country at the national all-star game.
Moon, which has 16 shutouts and has yielded just two goals all season, is chasing its third straight WPIAL championship. The third-seeded Tigers (15-1-2) will take on No. 5 South Fayette (14-4-2) in the Class 3A title game at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
The two goals the Tigers allowed were by by South Fayette.
South Fayette knocked off No. 1 Mars on penalty kicks (3-2) Tuesday night at Dormont Stadium.
Moon won 3A last season, and 4A in 2021. The Tigers won PIAA titles in ‘21 and ‘22.
Pfeifer has more wins than any girls soccer coach in state history (505) and is a six-time WPIAL champion.
