From triple coverage to national attention.

Mt. Pleasant running back Jarett Garn’s highlight-reel touchdown catch was the No. 2 play on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 on Friday night.

In the second quarter, on third-and-14, Garn made a leaping grab on a deep throw from Cole Chatfield over three Yough defenders. He then ran 24 yards to complete a 56-yard scoring play.

“That’s one of the best catches I’ve ever seen,” Mt. Pleasant coach Jason Fazekas said.

A video clip from the Westmoreland Sports Network went viral Friday night.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Garn had two catches for 73 yards and rushed for 41 yards on nine carries in the Vikings’ 22-19 win. Mt. Pleasant scored the go-ahead touchdown with 14 seconds left to move to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the Class 3A Interstate Conference.

Garn also plays soccer for the Vikings.
