New No. 1 team in Class 3A in Trib HSSN state baseball rankings

Most of the teams in the weekly Trib HSSN PIAA baseball rankings survived the conclusion of the regular season and start of the district postseason this past week.

The only change at the top of any of the six classifications happened in Class 3A where Montoursville lost twice and tumbled from No. 1 to No. 5, opening the door for Franklin to take over the top spot.

Other significant changes included:

LaSalle College, Lower Moreland, Mont Carmel, Tyrone and South Williamsport all fell out of the latest state rankings.

Three WPIAL teams — Penn-Trafford, Greensburg Salem and Neshannock — are entered the top five this week, along with Mount Union and Mercyhurst Prep.

Here are the rankings for the week ending May 17, with their overall records through Friday’s games.
