With seniors taking the top two spots on the podium in both the boys and girls competitions at the Westmoreland County Coaches Association diving championships last year, the door was open for new winners to emerge this season.

That’s what Latrobe’s Giada Angelicchio and Mt. Pleasant’s Noah Lahm did Friday evening.

Angelicchio, a junior who finished third last year, jumped up to the top spot with a score of 418.05. She finished ahead of Derry teammates Lidia Gamble (402.75) and Genavieve Hoyle (379.55). Derry divers finished 1-2 last year.

Mt. Pleasant’s Ella Paul, Greensburg Salem’s Kadence Keenan and Penn-Trafford’s Lauren Veyo rounded out the list of six girls medalists.

Lahm, a senior who finished fifth last year, climbed all the way to the top of the boys podium with a score of 347.15.

Latrobe teammates Will Murphy (285.5) and Ely Goodman (247.75) finished second and fourth. Franklin Regional’s Josh Underwood (265.45) and Carter Brokenbrough (241) were third and fifth. Hempfield’s Ryan Park earned a sixth-place medal.
