Five members of the 2023-24 North Allegheny swim team were recognized earlier this month on the NISCA All-American team.

The team is decided after compiling the fastest times across the country.

Honored were two-time WPIAL gold medalist William Gao (100-yard butterfly), WPIAL and PIAA gold medalist Natalie Sens (100 breaststroke), WPIAL gold medalist Claire Bacu (500 freestyle) and divers Lola Malarky and Juliet Hood, who finished first and second, respectively, at the WPIAL meet.

Also honored were:

• The NA boys 200 medley relay of Gao, Grant Regule, Riley Williams and Gus Miller, who were WPAL champions.

• The WPIAL champion girls 200 medley of Sens, Greta Mott, Tori Tieppo and Eva Ogden.

• The boys 200 freestyle relay of Danny Lesinski, Regule, Williams and Totin that won a WPIAL title.

• The WPIAL champion girls 200 freestyle relay of Sens, Ogden, Bacu and Julianne Weaver.

• And the WPIAL silver medalist boys 400 free relay of Gao, Williams, Josh Berty and Zachary Totin.

The group helped North Allegheny sweep the WPIAL boys and girls championships. The girls also went on to win the PIAA championship.

Izzie Trunzo, a 2024 North Allegheny graduate, earned honorable mention status on the All-America interscholastic water polo team.

The Gannon commit was a first-team all-state selection last season and was named the state’s goalie of the year. She made 711 career saves and had 254 as a senior.
