North Allegheny notebook: Tigers to be well-represented as host of Roundball Classic

Six North Allegheny seniors will take part in the annual Roundball Classic basketball all-star games, set for May 22-26, at North Allegheny.
Top senior players from the WPIAL, City League and District 10 were selected to play in the all-star weekend, which ties a bow around another season in Western Pennsylvania.
In addition, there will be new underclassmen games May 23, 24 and 26. Rosters for those games have not been finalized.
The senior players will practice May 22 at North Allegheny.
A one-day ticket costs $10 for adults and $5 for children. A weekend pass is $15.
The Class 6A girls team includes North Allegheny’s Lydia Betz, Caroline Henderson and Kellie McConnell.
McConnell is a Duquesne recruit, while Betz will play at Goldey-BEacom, and Henderson is headed to Rochester Institute of Technology.
They will play a team of Class 5A girls at 6 p.m. May 26.
On the boys’ side, North Allegheny’s Joe Dopirak, Ty Iwanonkiw and Anthony Sciote will play for the Class 6A team against The Class 5A Gold team at 7 p.m. May 25.
Dopirak is a Dickinson commit who averaged 21.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Iwanonikw will play at Cornell, and Sciote is headed to York

Class 3A/A vs. Class 2A/District 10 (girls), 2 p.m.
Class 4A/City League vs. Class 5A Silver (girls), 4 p.m.
Class 6A vs. Class 5A (girls), 6 p.m.
Rising Star Invitational main game (underclassmen), 8 p.m.
NA tennis players advance to WPIAL singles
North Allegheny freshman Advaita Sircar and Evan Kaufman earned spots in the field for the WPIAL Class 3A singles tennis tournament.
After a bye, each player reached the semifinals of the section singles tournament last week with dominant quarterfinal wins.
Sircar beat Moon’s Callahan Johnson, 10-0, and Kaufman defeated Baldwin’s Andrew Bocci, 10-3.
• The NA tennis team improved to 10-0 with a 5-0 win over Seneca Valley on April 2.
Sircar, Kaufman and Trey Davidson won at singles. Amit Bhandari/Srivatsav Thirumala and Adithya Ramadas Guptha/Adhav Ramadas each swept their doubles matches. No NA player dropped a game in the match.
Tigers baseball tops Norwin
Freshman J.J. Mancuso homered in his first varsity at-bat, hitting a two-run shot to lead North Allegheny to a 5-4 victory over Norwin in nonsection baseball March 28.
August Maslo drove in two runs and J.D. Costanzo picked up the win for the Tigers (3-0).
NA girls lacrosse drops section opener
Reagan Riordan scored six goals, and Sarah Harlan had one but North Allegheny’s girls lacrosse team dropped a 9-7 decision to Shaler in its Section 2-3A opener March 27.
The Tigers fell to 0-3 overall.
