Norwin athletes earn postseason honors

The PIAA champion Norwin girls soccer team was well-represented on the all-section team. Forward Emily Harrigan, midfielder Lexy Kendro, keeper Sam Wexell and defender Emily Arnold were first-team selections.

Midfielder Katy Ericson and defenders Madison Genicola and Natalie Durmis were second-team picks, and Danielle Iannuzo, midfielder Julia Scamardi and defender Eva Frankovic were honorable mentions.

In boys soccer, forwards Carter Breen and Zach Ullum were first-team all-section selections. Forward Matt Federovich and midfielder Jake Nebinski were second-team picks, and keeper Kyle Krotec was honorable mention.

In football, senior inside linebacker John Pickut, junior defensive back Jayvon Thrift and senior punter Brock Dieter were first-team all-Southeastern Conference selections.

Senior guard Noah Masten, senior tackle Jake Smetak, senior inside linebacker Gage Luptak, junior outside linebacker Gianni Rizzo and junior kicker Carter Breen were second-team picks, and junior running back Zeke Houser and senior defensive back CJ Taylor were honorable mentions.

In volleyball, Norwin was represented on the All-Section 3-AAAA first team by senior setter Marissa Farabaugh and junior hitter Rachel Langsdorf. Mary Ellen Ferragonio was named section coach of the year. Libero Megan Miller and hitter Emily Ritchie were second-team picks, and defensive specialists Nicole Caputo and Rachel Milke and hitter Rebecca Miller were honorable mentions.

In field hockey, Jessie Kolesar was an All-WPIAL selection. Alexis Birkland and Kolesar were all-section picks, and Magen Polczynski was an honorable mention.
