Oakland Catholic’s Cierra Christian commits to Brown

Oakland Catholic’s Cierra Christian, who helped her team reach the WPIAL basketball finals last winter, committed Monday to Brown.
The 5-foot-10 guard will be a junior in the fall.
Christian scored 12 points in the WPIAL Class 5A final last March at Petersen Events Center, a 29-27 loss to Gateway.
She joins an Ivy League staff that has an assistant coach from Western Pennsylvania. Brown assistant Eddie Benton, a Pittsburgh native, was the La Roche women’s coach from 2004-12. He led the La Roche to the NCAA Division III Tournament in consecutive seasons and earned conference coach of the year honors twice. Benton was an assistant coach at Duquesne from 2013-16.
Brown went 15-12 last season a finished sixth in the Ivy League.
