Sachin Thiagarajan kept Obama Academy’s City League tennis dominance going.

Thiagarajan, a junior, claimed his first City League singles championship Tuesday with a straight-sets victory over Brashear’s Michael Varlotta at the Mellon Bubble.

The finals performance capped a dominant run for Thiagarajan, the tournament’s top seed. He won his first two matches by 8-0 scores Monday, then beat Perry’s Jahari Owens Dixon, 6-0, 6-0, in the semifinals Tuesday.

Thiagarajan became Obama Academy’s fifth consecutive singles champion. He’ll represent the City League in the PIAA singles tournament, which begins in late May.
