Phil O'Keeffe has coached the Fox Chapel boys volleyball team for the past 16 years.
He now will try his hand at coaching the FC girls.
“I did coach the girls for seven weeks two years ago, but this will be my first full season,” he said.
The team finished at 6-6 last season and lost to eventual champion Seneca Valley in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.
“We lost several key players from that team,” O'Keeffe said. “I'm not exactly sure what our lineup will look like. For me, it's a blank roster right now. Where everybody played last year has no relevance.”
He plans on a more offensive, attacking mindset this year and feels he has the talent for it to succeed.
“We should be good in all positions,” O'Keeffe said.
“This team has experience and confidence, and we've got a bunch of promising newcomers.”
The Foxes will be competing in Section 4-AAAA.
“From what I am hearing, Oakland Catholic and Armstrong are two of the top teams in the section,” he said. “Our goals will be the same as every year. We want to compete for the section title and the WPIAL and PIAA championships.”
