Palmer Jackson shoots 66, leads Westmoreland County Amateur

Palmer Jackson shot a 4-under-par 66 on Saturday to grab the first-round lead of the annual Westmoreland Golf Association’s Amateur Championship at Hannastown Golf.

Jackson, the Murrysville native and graduate of Franklin Regional High School and Notre Dame, played a solid round and leads the Turowski brothers — Nick and Alex.

Nick Turowski, who will be attending West Virginia in the fall, who a 3-under par 67. His brother Alex, who attends Fairmont State, shot a 1-under 69.

Jeff Mankins and Arnie Cutrell are tied for fourth at 1-over 71, and Nolan Shilling is sixth at 2-over.

Kevin Fajt is seventh at 3-over with Andy Roskosh, P.J. Germano and Sean Knapp tied for eighth at 4-over.

The final round will be Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.

There are 48 players in the field.
