Sport: Golf

Claim to fame: The senior shot a team-low 74 at the WPIAL Class 3A team championships. The Panthers finished fourth with 405 points behind South Fayette (385), Fox Chapel (389) and North Allegheny (389). Moon (405) and Peters Township (408) followed. Mauser also is an attacker on the lacrosse team.

Q: What do you like most about lacrosse?

A: I guess the physical contact. You do not get to hit someone in golf.

Q: Would you like to play golf in college?

A: I hope so. I have talked to some schools. I am just waiting to make a decision.

Q: What are you looking for from a college?

A: No. 1, it must have great academics. No. 2, a good golf program.

Q: What is your best score?

A: I shot a 68 at Meadowink in Murrysville. I shot a 32 at Willowbrook in Apollo.

Q: What is the best course you have played?

A: Oakmont in the WPIAL Class 3 Championship in 2024. I shot a 79.

Q: Other than Oakmont, what course would be second on your list?

A: Pebble Beach. My game was not as good as it is now. It was beautiful. There are a few holes where you can hit into the Pacific Ocean.

Q: What was different about your game this season?

A: I played with less stress. I did not think much about my score, but the process. I was also in better shape.

Q: What is your favorite club in your bag?

A: My driver was my favorite, but my mini driver is now.

Q: What is the most difficult shot for you to make?

A: I am trying to learn how to draw the ball with my driver. I struggle with that.

Q: Who is your favorite golfer?

A: I like Tiger Woods.

Q: What are your feelings about LIV Golf and the PGA?

A: I believe they should join. But the better golfers are in the PGA.

Q: What day did you attend the Open?

A: It was Saturday. I was amazed the control the players had to the green.

Q: What is your favorite movie and what scene?

A: “Happy Gilmore,” and the opening scene when he is launching his drives down the street.

Q: What course is on your bucket list?

A: Pine Valley, N.J. It looks amazing.

Q: Does your family belong to a club?

A: Yes,Westmoreland Country Club.
