It turned out to be a banner state softball postseason for WPIAL teams.

Six PIAA champions were crowned, and half of them returned to District 7 with gold.

Penn-Trafford in 5A, Neshannock in 2A and Union in Class A are celebrating state championships.

The others were spread out among three different districts.

Central Dauphin in 6A won for District 3, Valley View in 4A captured gold for District 2 and Pine Grove in 3A was a state champion for District 11.

It was the second straight and fourth PIAA championship overall for Neshannock, which also won in 2012 and 2023, and it was the third state title for Valley View, which won it all in 2000 and 2013.

It was the second state softball crown for Penn-Trafford (2019) and Pine Grove (2019) while Central Dauphin and Union are celebrating their first state titles.

Only in Class 4A with Valley View and 2A with Neshannock did the top-ranked teams heading into the semifinals return home with gold.
