Penn-Trafford notebook: Ben Grabowski keys win over rival Franklin Regional

Junior Ben Grabowski rushed for 172 yards on just four carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 48-14 victory against Franklin Regional in a WPIAL Class 5A Big East Conference battle on Oct. 10.
Quarterbacks Nate Desmond and Cody Yacamelli each tossed touchdown passes.
Landyn Stikkel scored on a 2-yard run and caught a 24-yard pass from Yacamelli.
Desmond hit Nick Ponko five times for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Jack Miller made field goals of 37 and 47 yards.
Lucah Butler had six tackles and Jamison Yurt returned from an injury to record five tackles and a quarterback sack.
The Warriors (7-1, 3-1) were scheduled to play host to Armstrong on Oct. 17 before ended the regular season with a home game against Latrobe on Oct. 24.
Penn-Trafford hockey
Jordan Tucek had a hat trick, and Penn-Trafford (2-1) rebounded from a loss to defeat Wheeling Park on Oct. 16.
Ben Zierski, Liam Lehneke and Nico Castelli each scored goals for the Warriors.
Penn-Trafford dropped a 4-2 decision to Shaler on Oct. 9.
Tucek and Jake Lenart scored goals to tie the game in the second period. Zierski assisted on Tucek’s goal.
Colby Colamarino tallied twice in the third period for Shaler.
Penn-Trafford field hockey
The Warriors defeated Norwin, 6-0, tied Upper St. Clair, 1-1, and lost 1-0 to Peters Township in the final week of the regular season.
Brooke Bauer scored three goals and Caeley Simon, Sarah Ley and Gabi Rubbe added one each against Norwin.
Bauer scored the Warriors’ goal against Upper St. Clair.
The Warriors finished the regular season 5-8-3 overall and 2-8-2 in Class 2A.
Anthony shines
Even though Westminster dropped a five-set match to Washington & Jefferson, Penn-Trafford grad Kylie Anthony shined. Anthony finished with five kills and had 14 digs for the Titans.
