Penn-Trafford notebook: Warriors passing game connects against Mt. Lebanon

Penn-Trafford picked up its first victory of the football season by rolling over Mt. Lebanon, 28-7, on Aug. 30.

Quarterback Jonny Lovre completed 17 of 26 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown, and Jack Weishaar was his main target with 10 catches for 130 yards. Dom Smith caught a 14-yard touchdown pass.

Derek Carr, Tasso Whipple and Michael Cheplick scored on runs.

Whipple gained 136 yards.

Penn-Trafford (1-1) broke the game open in the second half.

Golf team drops close one

The Penn-Trafford boys golf team and Norwin played to a 213-213 tie at Manor Valley, which forced the match to sudden death.

Norwin ended up winning the playoff 19-22 to win the match.

Aiden Dzurko led the Warriors with a 40, while Owen Szekely, Anthony Barilla and Jake Lenart shot 43.

Norwin senior Dom Cerilli was medalist with a 38.

Tennis team rolls

Penn-Trafford’s girls tennis team topped Hempfield, 4-1.

Earning singles wins were Mia Williams, Elle LeJeune and Annabelle Aquino.

The winning doubles team was Kylie McKenzie and Ella Barras.
