Rease Solomon will be stopping shots in the Horizon League.

The rising senior soccer goalkeeper at Penn-Trafford announced a verbal commitment to Robert Morris.

Solomon, a Pittsburgh Riverhounds Academy player, was an all-section performer last season. She allowed 16 goals, made 113 saves and posted six shutouts for the Warriors (11-7).

“I had a few offers, which was super exciting,” she said. “I really liked the coaches at RMU and felt that I would fit in well with the coaching staff and the team. It was awesome to learn the (goalkeeper) coach (Reaghan Duval) at RMU was now working with Riverhounds, so I will be able to train with her even before I get there.

“Also, I like that RMU had what I needed academically for pre-med.”

A returning TribLive Westmoreland all-star, Solomon will join another former Penn-Trafford standout in Malia Kearns, who is heading into her junior season with the Colonials.

“RMU is getting a top-notch goalkeeper,” Penn-Trafford coach Jimmy Mastroianni said. “Rease has been a wall between the posts for us the past two seasons. Her diving, sometimes acrobatic saves have really kept us in a lot of tough games.”
