Peters Township girls place 2nd in PIAA team golf championships

Gold medals were not in the cards for the WPIAL golf teams at the PIAA championship Wednesday.
Only the Peters Township girls earn a medal: a silver in Class 3A.
Conestoga finished first at 12-over-par, and Peters Township was next at 16-over.
Senior Ellie Benson paced the Indians by shooting a 1-under 71. Betty Glyptis shot an even-par 72.
Fox Chapel tied for third at 37-over with Mount St. Joseph.
In Class 3A boys, Unionville outlasted Radnor and State College. Unionville shot a 2-under, and State College and Radnor shot 1-under.
South Fayette finished fourth at 8-over. Sam Bishop led the Lions with a 3-under 69.
The Shady Side Academy girls placed fourth in Class 2A at 40-over. North Catholic was seventh at 58-over, and River Valley finished ninth at 81-over.
West Middlesex (District 10) was the winner at 21-over, edging Fairview from District 10. Kate Sowers led West Middlesex by shooting an even-par 72.
In the Class 2A boys tournament, Scranton Prep shot a 6-under to claim the title.
Elizabeth Forward finished fifth at 16-over, and Shady Side Academy was sixth at 17-over.
