Throw-ins: One week after these teams missed a chance to play each other in the WPIAL championship game, they’ll meet with a spot in the PIAA semifinals on the line. Deer Lakes is coming off a 1-0, double-overtime victory over District 10 champion Fairview in the PIAA first round. Dorman, a junior, scored the winning goal just over four minutes into the second overtime. Jesse Greyshock made four saves for his 10th shutout of the season and third of the postseason. Dorman has a team-high six goals since the playoffs began. This marks the first time Deer Lakes has appeared in the PIAA semifinals. Quaker Valley has won seven state championships — three more than any other WPIAL boys soccer team. The Quakers won the PIAA title last season after a runner-up finish in 2017. After starting the season 0-3, Quaker Valley reeled off 18 consecutive victories before falling 2-1 to Shady Side Academy in the WPIAL final. The team bounced back with a 6-0 PIAA first-round win over District 6 champ Westmont Hilltop. Grant and Fisher Hemwall each scored a pair of goals in the win. Quaker Valley has scored 126 goals this season.
