PIAA releases quarterfinal sites, times for 2024 state softball playoffs

The PIAA has announced sites and times for the the state softball quarterfinals with 10 WPIAL teams still in contention for a title.

Thursday’s playoff schedule includes two all-WPIAL matchups in a tripleheader at Gateway.

In Class 4A, Chartiers Valley plays Elizabeth Forward at 2 p.m., and Bentworth faces Laurel in a Class 2A quarterfinal at 4 p.m. A noon game matches District 5 champion Chestnut Ridge and District 10 champion Sharon in 3A.

Also reaching the quarterfinals were Seneca Valley in Class 6A, Armstrong and Thomas Jefferson in 5A, Neshannock in 2A and Chartiers-Houston and Carmichaels in A.

The WPIAL has no teams remaining in the 3A bracket.

1-1 Downingtown West (25-0) vs. 1-4 Downingtown East (21-4) at Unionville, noon

3-3 Warwick (23-5) vs. 1-5 Council Rock South (20-3) at Boyertown, 3 p.m.

3-1 Central Dauphin (17-3) vs. 1-2 Quakertown (23-1) at Boyertown, 5:30 p.m.

1-3 North Penn (22-3) vs. 7-1 Seneca Valley (22-1) at Norlo Park Softball Complex, Chambersburg, 2:30 p.m.

Class 5A

3-3 Mechanicsburg (21-6) vs. 2-1 Pittston Area (19-1) at Patriots Park, Allentown, noon

3-4 Shippensburg (14-11) vs. 3-1 South Western (25-0) at Cumberland Valley, 4 p.m.

1-2 West Chester East (16-8) vs. 7-2 Thomas Jefferson (13-8) at Norlo Park Softball Complex, Chambersburg, noon

6-1 Central Mountain (15-5) vs. 7-1 Armstrong (19-3) at Heindl Memorial Field, DuBois, 1:30 p.m.
