A showdown between WPIAL Class 3A baseball powers and the next game for the WPIAL Class 6A softball champs will have to wait a day.
Two PIAA playoff games were postponed Monday due to ominous weather forecasts and/or field conditions worsened by recent rains.
The Class 3A baseball semifinal between Riverside (19-2) and South Park (17-7) scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Seneca Valley will now be played Tuesday at the same site and time.
The Class 6A softball semifinal between Hempfield (23-1) and District 11 runner-up Nazareth (21-6) scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday at the Norlo Park Softball Complex in Fayetteville will also be played Tuesday at the same site and time.
The other seven PIAA baseball and softball semifinals involving WPIAL teams scheduled for Monday were on track to be completed, though some were experiencing weather delays.
