PIAA sets pairings for opening round of lacrosse playoffs

Up until this decade, the PIAA lacrosse playoffs had been a vast wasteland for WPIAL boys and girls lacrosse teams.
Now while the girls lacrosse teams from District 7 have not yet cracked the code of playing for a state championship, the Mars boys program has given hope to every district school as its streak of participating in PIAA Class 2A title matches reached four in a row last spring.
The Fightin’ Planets also became the first WPIAL team to win a PIAA lacrosse championship when they stunned District 1 power Marple Newtown to win the 2022 championship, 9-6.
Here are all the first round matches starting next week in the 2025 PIAA boys and girls lacrosse playoffs.
