Because there are no first-round games in the PIHL Class 3A and 2A and Division 2 playoffs, the Class A Penguins Cup postseason begins a week early with six opening-round contests.

With 14 teams qualifying in Class A, the two section champions — Canon-McMillan (18-1-1-0) in the Blue Division and Mars (15-1-2-2) in the Gold Division — have earned first-round byes.

Here are the six postseason games set for Monday and Tuesday.

• Greensburg Salem (8-10-0-2) vs. Quaker Valley (18-1-0-1), 9 p.m. Monday at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon

• Beaver (8-11-1-0) vs. Avonworth (15-3-1-1), 8:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon

• North Hills (7-7-3-3) vs. Moon (14-3-1-2), 9 p.m. Tuesday at Printscape Arena at Southpointe
