From Dave Wannstedt to Jason Pinkston, Baldwin and Pitt have had a number of links through the years.

Sophomore lineman Dorien Ford gave a nod to that shared history Tuesday when he announced he’d received a scholarship offer from Pitt. Along with his tweet was a picture of Pinkston from his Pitt playing days.

The offer means it’s possible Ford could follow the same path that made Pinkston an All-Big East lineman.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive end is emerging as one of the WPIAL’s top football recruits in the 2021 class. He now has three Division I FBS offers.

Pitt was his first offer from a Power 5 conference. He also lists Ball State and Toledo, along with an FCS offer from Robert Morris.

Ford ranked among team leaders in tackles last fall, posted 10 tackles for losses and recovered two fumbles.
