Pittsburgh Basketball Club showcase games set for Saturday

Twenty teams, 10 games, two days, one site.

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club hosts its annual Hall of Fame event involving some of the top district boys’ basketball teams on Saturday and Sunday at Montour.

There are five games each day with plenty of ranked teams taking part. The Saturday lineup is:

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart vs. Seton LaSalle at 1:30 p.m.

Quaker Valley vs. Knoch at 3 p.m.

Chartiers Valley vs. Sewickley Academy at 4:30 p.m.

North Allegheny at Montour at 6 p.m.

Aliquippa vs. Allderdice at 7:30 p.m.

Then on Sunday:

Vincentian Academy vs. Valley at noon

Canon-McMillan vs. Pine-Richalnd at 1:30 p.m.

Sto-Rox vs. Beaver Falls at 3 p.m.

Ambridge vs. Mars at 4:30 p.m.

Lincoln Park vs. Highlands at 6 p.m.

There are also three PBC Hall of Fame games at Moon on Saturday:

South Side vs. Monessen at noon

Blackhawk vs. North Hills at 1:30 p.m.

Woodland Hills vs. Seneca Valley at 3 p.m.

Boys and girls hoops at Seton Hill and Bethel Park

Not every top team is playing at the PBC event this weekend. On Saturday, several top Westmoreland County and eastern Allegheny County teams will participate in the Shootout at Seton Hill University.

A pair of girls’ games get the day started as Greensburg Central Catholic battles Greensburg Salem at 2 p.m. followed by 6A rivals Norwin against Hempfield at 3:30 p.m.

Then the boys’ hit the floor with Serra Catholic against Penn Hills at 5 p.m., Greensburg Central Catholic taking on Greensburg Salem at 6:30 p.m. and the event concludes at 8 p.m. with Penn-Trafford vs. Jeannette.

Eight WPIAL and City League girls’ teams will take part in the Joey Fabus Memorial Classic at Bethel Park on Saturday.

Brashear vs. Carlynton at noon

North Catholic vs. Upper St. Clair at 2 p.m.

Seneca Valley vs. Peters Township at 4 p.m.

West Allegheny at Bethel Park at 6 p.m.

Stars on ice

The top high school hockey players in Western Pennsylvania congregate at the RMU Island Sports Complex on Neville Island for the annual PIHL All-Star games on Sunday afternoon.

The four game event featuring the top hockey players in the league starts at noon with the Division II All-Star Game. That is followed by Class A at 2 p.m., Class AA at 4 p.m. and Class AAA at 6 p.m.

All four games can be heard on the TribLive High School Sports Network.
