Quaker Valley’s girls lacrosse team qualified for both the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs this season.

The QV girls advanced to the Class 2A state tournament as the district’s third-place team.

“The girls are excited for states,” QV coach Laura Peery said before the PIAA playoffs were set to begin June 3. “It is a big opportunity for our team, and I think we are ready to compete at that level. The girls have been working extremely hard in practices and really connecting on the field.

“The seniors made it their goal this year to go farther in playoffs, and we have been working toward it all year, so I know they will give it everything they have.”

Behind the offensive punch of junior midfielders Lucy Roig and Alexa Westwood, No. 7 Quaker Valley defeated Blackhawk, 13-9, in the WPIAL third-place consolation game May 22 at Fox Chapel.

“I am very impressed with the way our team has come together and improved over the regular season,” Peery said. “We had some tough games at the beginning of the season that set us back, but we have been playing our best lacrosse the last few games and really hit our peak just in time for playoffs.”

Roig exploded for eight goals while Westwood added three goals and two assists in the impressive win against No. 4 Blackhawk.

Junior D/M Meredith Fallgren and freshman A/M Kat Miller also scored while senior goalkeeper Emily Reiner made 11 saves for the Quakers, who improved to 11-5.

QV posted a 3-1 record in the WPIAL playoffs, beating No. 10 Indiana, 12-3, in the first round and No. 2 Seton LaSalle, 16-3, in the quarterfinals before losing 10-8 to No. 3 Chartiers Valley in the semifinal round.

“I am very proud of how we played in the playoffs,” Peery said. “We had an incredible game with Chartiers Valley in the semifinals, probably our best game all season.

“The girls fought hard to take the lead at halftime and just came up a couple goals short. But they did an amazing job keeping their composure and never giving up. It was truly an entire team effort. They played with so much heart it was exciting to be a part of.”

Roig accounted for 21 goals in QV’s four district playoff games, boosting her season total to 57 (on 109 shots) and career total to 195. She averaged 3.6 goals per game this spring.

The high-achieving junior had 138 goals and 20 assists in her first two seasons with the Quakers. She netted 76 goals as a freshman and 62 last year.

Roig was lauded as a USA Lacrosse All-American and Class 2A all-WPIAL selection in 2024. Roig and Reiner were chosen all-section.

Quaker Valley won eight of its last nine regular-season games in 2025 and took a five-game winning streak into the WPIAL playoffs.

The Quakers logged 124-53 scoring advantage during the regular season and outscored their four playoff opponents 39-25, giving the team a 163-78 overall edge.

Westwood was next in line behind Roig in scoring with 35 goals and led the squad in assists with 25.

Miller complemented Roig and Westwood offensively with 21 goals and 20 assists. Junior attacker Mia Floro contributed 14 assists.

Reiner limited 13 of 16 opponents to single digits and recorded 154 total saves. She held a 5.4 goals-against average and .691 save percentage.

Fallgren (49), Roig (46) and Westwood (46) were the team leaders in ground balls. Roig caused 32 turnovers, followed in that category by Westwood (22) and Fallgren (19).

Reiner and senior defender Ruby Krotine, along with Roig, Westwood and Fallgren, have served as QV’s co-captains in 2025.

Reiner, Krotine, ATT/DEF Grace Wiehe and defenders Nora Hammond and Lily Pulkowski are the five seniors on the QV team.
