Advaita Sircar of North Allegheny and Gateway’s Adam Memije will meet for the WPIAL Class 3A boys singles tennis title for the second straight year.

Last year, Sircar beat Memije in a three-set battle. This year, they’ll square off again at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Park.

In Wednesday’s semifinals, Sircar, the top seed, fought past Memije’s Gateway teammate, Zidaan Hassan, in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1.

Memije defeated Colin Stalnaker of Franklin Regional, 6-4, 6-0.

Stalnaker, the sixth seed, knocked off Upper St. Clair’s Ari Plutko, the third seed, in the quarterfinals.

In a pair of first-round upsets, No. 10 Luca Ritivoi of Mt. Lebanon beat No. 7 Severin Harmon of Sewickley Academy, the defending Class 2A champ, and No. 12 Ryan Moore of Pine-Richland defeated Sai Chaudhry of Shady Side Academy.

In Class 2A, top seed Max Henson of Belle Vernon, a Cleveland State recruit, roared into the finals, losing a total of one game in three matches. He defeated No. 5 John Rohrkaste of Montour in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-0.

The other semifinal was a battle with No. 2 Justin Garvey of North Catholic getting past No. 3 Jonah Jasek of South Park in a third-set tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6).

In Class 3A, the top two finishers advance to states. In Class 2A, the top three move on.
