Roher leads Bushy Run to win in state Legion playoffs

Bushy Run opened the Pennsylvania American Legion state tournament on Saturday with a 4-1 victory against French Creek Valley at Erie McDowell High School.

Brandon Roher allowed one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked one.

Jon Lovre drove in two runs, scored a run and hit a double.

Bushy Run took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Caleb Kerstetter reached on an error and scored on a bases loaded walk to Lovre.

The lead went to 2-0 in the fourth inning when Jordan White singled. He swiped second and moved to third on a fly out. He scored on Dylan Ridley’s single.

French Creek Valley got a run in the fifth inning to make it 2-1, but Bushy Run responded with two in the bottom of the inning.

With one out, Carmen Metcalfe singled and swiped second. He scored on a double by Lovre. Noah Rattigan followed with an RBI single.

Bushy Run will face Connellsville, a 9-1 winner over host Millcreek, at 7:05 p.m. Sunday.

In other action, North Parkland defeated Stripes & Strikes, 2-1.
