They say one is the loneliest number in the world. Well on this recap, one performer stands alone on center stage because…well….there was only one football game in the entire WPIAL on Saturday. So without further adieu…
Andrew Wingard – West Shamokin
Last year in Week Three, West Shamkoin beat Riverview to end the longest losing streak in WPIAL history at 46 in a row. In 12 month, the pendulum is swinging the other way now for this Armstrong County school. Andrew Wingard rushed for 137 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Wolves beat the host Raiders 41-12 for a school record fourth consecutive victory. West Shamokin improves to 3-0 in the Class A Eastern Conference, which is pretty amazing for a school that had won only 16 games in the last 14 years.
