The Scoring Factory AAU is holding a basketball skills development program from April 26 to June 15 at Sewickley Academy.
The program tips off on the weekend of April 26-27 and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday until June 15.
All the action will take place at Win Palmer Court and in Snyder Gym.
The Scoring Factory, founded by its president Pete Strobl, operates in gyms around Pittsburgh with multiple satellite locations.
Strobl started The Scoring Factory in 2009 upon settling in Pittsburgh after a nine-year career in the European professional leagues. He was a member of the Austrian National Basketball team and played in France, Austria, Germany, Iceland, Switzerland and Ireland where he also served as player/coach.
The skills development program is in its second year at Sewickley Academy.
One of The Scoring Factory coaches and its director of events, Chuck Bogden, is head coach of Sewickley’s middle school girls basketball program.
Bogden is a 1993 graduate of Seton LaSalle where he played basketball for three years on the varsity team.
In 2017 and 2018, Bogden coached the Keystone Oaks girls basketball team, leading the Golden Eagles to the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs.
A few years later, he recognized the absence of a local program to introduce children in grades 3-8 to the fundamentals of basketball and co-founded the Keystone Oaks Youth Basketball Association.
The Academy AAU club program is open to boys and girls in second through 12th grade and offers a built-in support system encompassing all aspects of player development, along with exposure and recruiting assistance, under one umbrella.
The program utilizes a European teaching curriculum that promotes individual growth within a team environment with a focus on skill development, aggressive man-to-man defense and the construction of a broad basketball IQ.
